Transmigrated into a Villainess? I’m Going to conquer the Heroine!

Chapter 101 - Sister Jiang Crying

The idea of going back home hadn’t fully formed yet when she received a call from Sister Qing after breakfast.

She reminded her not to forget tomorrow’s schedule—she had taken a spot on a campus variety show called Campus Stage. It was a six-episode gig, recorded over two weeks, with accommodations provided.

TangYuan agreed without hesitation.

In the kitchen, Jiang Zi placed the used dishes into the dishwasher. TangYuan walked in and poked her waist.

“Sister, I’m heading off for work tomorrow! I took on a variety show gig, and it’s a bit far. I have to leave today.”

Jiang Zi finished setting the dishwasher and finally glanced sideways at her. “What kind of variety show?”

“Campus Stage. It’s being filmed at Blue City University—super far from Dragon City. I have to catch a flight, so…”

TangYuan cleared her throat and met Jiang Zi’s calm gaze. The excitement she initially felt was suddenly hard to express, and instead, she felt a little reluctant. “I’ll only be gone for two weeks… You have to miss me, okay?”

“Hm?” Jiang Zi narrowed her eyes. “You’re not planning to take me with you?”

TangYuan blinked, stunned. “Wait—aren’t family members… not allowed?”

Did TangYuan not want to be with her?

TangYuan really didn’t love her.

Otherwise, why wouldn’t she want her to come along on such a long trip?

Jiang Zi withdrew her gaze, staring at the glowing blue panel of the dishwasher, suppressing her emotions.

TangYuan had originally thought that working away from home would help her sister learn some restraint. Plus, she could always fly back to visit during off days. But her sister was just too clingy.

Seeing her lower her gaze without speaking, TangYuan’s resolve lasted less than a second. “I’ll check which hotel the production crew booked. I’ll book an extra room.”

She didn’t really want to be apart from her sister for that long either. As for restraint… she needed to find a solution. Maybe netizens had some advice. There had to be a way.

But before she could finish that thought, Jiang Zi’s slightly cool voice interrupted her. “No need. I don’t want to go.”

“Huh?” TangYuan paused, tilting her head closer to examine her expression. To her surprise, Jiang Zi only shot her a brief glance before turning and walking out of the kitchen.

What’s going on?!

Before they got together, Jiang Zi was always the cold and aloof goddess. But ever since they started dating, she had never acted like this!

TangYuan felt like her world was crumbling. She rushed after her, grabbing her hand as she followed her to the living room.

Jiang Zi didn’t shake her off but didn’t react either. She sat down on the couch, switched on the TV, and said nothing.

TangYuan sat close beside her. “Sister? Sis? Wifey~”

Jiang Zi stared at her for a moment, then chuckled softly, masking all her emotions. “I’m not upset, just teasing you.”

TangYuan hesitated, still skeptical. “Really?”

“Really.” Jiang Zi reached out, pinching her cheek, then placed a light kiss on her lips. “But I’m really not going. Work is busy, and two weeks is too long. I can’t stay away that long.”

“I see.” TangYuan studied her face, unwilling to let go of any subtle expressions. But before she could think too much, Jiang Zi kissed her again—this time, deeply enough to drown her thoughts in sweetness.

She had no idea how much time had passed before Jiang Zi straightened up, adjusting the slightly wrinkled fabric of her white blouse. Looking at the girl who had completely melted into the sofa, she gently pulled her up and patted her back. “Alright, pack your things. I’m heading out.”

Leaving just that one sentence, Jiang Zi grabbed her phone from the table, walked to the door, picked up her car keys, and left.

TangYuan dazedly watched her, following her movements until the door closed. Silence fell around her, leaving only the sound of her own disordered heartbeat.

Something wasn’t right.

Sister wasn’t right.

TangYuan sprang to her feet, running barefoot to the door and flinging it open—only to find the hallway empty. The elevator display showed the floors decreasing, one by one.

In the dim underground parking lot, Jiang Zi reached her car, opened the door, and got in.

Inside, she didn’t turn on the lights. The faint glow from the dashboard display wasn’t enough to illuminate her eyes.

[So tired. I want to go home for a few days.]

[Sister is practically the embodiment of desire. I don’t want this anymore, I give up.]

[Applying for separation. She has no self-control. I’m sleeping in a different room.]

[Looks can be deceiving. I was so wrong about Sister being a cold, reserved type.]

There were so many thoughts—words she had overheard from TangYuan’s mind.

She had considered living separately, more than once.

And her favorability… never full.

It all proved one thing:

TangYuan didn’t love her. She was just going along with a script—following the system’s missions that had pushed her into this relationship.

She liked her, but she didn’t love her. She was just the best choice at the moment.

Jiang Zi told herself it didn’t matter. She had almost convinced herself that she had forgotten about TangYuan’s favorability rating.

But deep down, she cared. She cared so much it hurt. Every time she heard those thoughts, they were proof that TangYuan didn’t truly love her.

TangYuan’s first reaction to working away was to keep her at a distance.

She didn’t like having her around.

And Jiang Zi was terrified that, one day, TangYuan would decide to push her away completely. That one day, she’d hear in her heart: I want to leave her.

She couldn’t risk it. She wouldn’t go this time.

Before, she could fake a little grievance and get TangYuan to cave. And every time, she had felt a secret joy.

Now, she hated her past self. Every time TangYuan gave in, it probably chipped away at her feelings.

Something cool touched her cheek. She reached up and wiped it away—tears.

The enclosed space of the car felt suffocating. Her heart ached as silent tears fell.

Knock, knock, knock.

A sharp tapping on the glass startled her.

Jiang Zi panicked and quickly grabbed some tissues to wipe her face. It was dark—TangYuan shouldn’t be able to see.

She had never cried in front of her before.

She barely hesitated before unlocking the door. The next second, a soft body lunged at her, pressing her down.

Warm lips landed at the corner of her eyes. Jiang Zi stiffened, pressing back against the seat, eyes squeezed shut in panic.

TangYuan’s movements were forceful—she straddled her, kissing both of her tear-streaked eyes.

“Hmph. Salty. My sister was hiding here, secretly shedding pearls.”

Jiang Zi wrapped her arms around her waist, steadying her. For a moment, she felt like she was dreaming.

Then, in a moment of distraction, her lips were bitten hard—sharp pain jolting through her nerves. Instinctively, she pressed forward to kiss her back.

TangYuan refused to back down, clinging to her like she wanted to melt into her skin.

Only after a long, breathless moment did they part.

TangYuan leaned against her shoulder, her breathing uneven. After a while, she pinched Jiang Zi’s waist with a hint of revenge and warned her, “Now can we talk properly?”

In a relationship, problems had to be solved immediately.

Jiang Zi’s voice was still hoarse from crying. “…Last night, you didn’t sleep with me.”

“And you even said… you wanted to sleep in a separate room from now on.”

TangYuan waited, but Jiang Zi fell silent. She blinked. “That’s it??”

“Isn’t that enough?” Jiang Zi rubbed her nose against her shoulder, pitifully mumbling, “You don’t love me anymore. You want to sleep apart.”

TangYuan’s face turned bright red. She had been a little too heated last night and had said that in frustration.

She glared at Jiang Zi. “You actually believed what I said in bed?!”

Jiang ZiJing held her in a quiet embrace, saying nothing in response. It was clear she wasn’t joking.

Tang Yuan let out a sigh and ruffled her jet-black hair. “Wifey, however much you love me, that’s how much I love you. So stop doubting yourself, okay?”

“And besides, let’s be real—you’re totally addicted! Am I wrong for asking you to show some restraint?”

“I’m not saying you have to abstain completely, but we need to cut down a little.”

“Oh, and one more thing,” Tang Yuan deliberately acted unreasonable. “No matter how busy you are with work, you have to come with me to film the variety show!”

“You’re the one who said I can’t go out without you because it’s not safe. Are you going back on your word now?”
