"Dispel!" Sophia shouted, unleashing her skill with a flick of her wrist. The shadows binding her dissipated instantly, setting her free. But, Liam and Darren remained ensnared, their bodies still tethered by the shadow's icy grip.

Frustration welled up inside Sophia as she struggled to comprehend their inaction. Darren, with his formidable abilities, should have been able to summon his Mandragora to disrupt Alice's spell or break free from the Shadow Bind with ease. And Liam, armed with his ax, could have at least attempted to struggle against the shadow's hold or dodge its grasp. Yet, they did nothing.

Sophia couldn't understand their passivity. It was as if they had given up before even trying, surrendering themselves to the whims of their captor without a fight. She felt a surge of anger bubbling up inside her.

"Tch!" Sophia clicked her tongue in annoyance as she watched Liam and Darren remain frozen in their inertia, much like Elio. "Seriously? You're just gonna stand there like nothing's happening?" she muttered under her breath, frustration simmering beneath the surface.

She knew she couldn't force them to act, but the thought of facing this threat alone gnawed at her.

Soon, the shadow surged towards her once more, Sophia's instincts kicked in, her agility skills coming to the forefront. With lightning reflexes, she dodged and weaved, narrowly evading the grasping tendrils that reached out hungrily for her.

At least, if the emperor once again decided to ignore her, Sophia showed that one of the villains was still after her. That was a perfect plan for now. Nothing would go wrong with that!

Alice caught sight of Sophia hurtling towards the window, a mischievous grin spread across her face. She was no fool; she knew exactly what Sophia was up to. And she had a nosy idea brewing in her mind.

Without missing a beat, Alice sprang into action, her shadowy tendrils surging forward with renewed speed. She also chased after Sophia, as if it was a reassurance that everything was going according to Sophia's plan.

With a burst of adrenaline-fueled determination, Sophia propelled herself towards the window, her heart pounding in her chest as she broke through the glass with a dramatic shatter. Shards of glass scattered in all directions as she plummeted towards the street below, her sudden presence enough to make the players on the bustling sidewalk gasp in shock and disbelief.

Confusion clouded her thoughts as she glanced behind her, and what she saw sent a chill down her spine. There stood Alice by the window, her smirk unmistakable in the dim light. The Shadow Bind had retreated, leaving Sophia.

And lying lifeless behind Alice were Darren and Liam. Sophia's breath caught in her throat as the reality of the situation sank in. Alice hadn't chased her at all; she had been lured into a trap.

Sophia's eyes widened in shock as the truth dawned on her. Alice hadn't bothered to chase her or make a spectacle of her fall. She had been played like a fiddle, and now she was paying the price for her naivety.
