Chapter 55.1
Boyish Girl Can Be Charming Too
“…Ha”
Yuuri responded with a somewhat absent-minded voice. In front of him was a girl with sharp eyes and a short bob hairstyle. Standing between Yuuri and the girl was the beautiful Leo, who had abducted Yuuri today, just like before.
This was an accessory shop where Leo was a regular. The works of Leo’s friend (or comrade) Bright were also sold here. Yuuri, suddenly brought to this shop, found himself facing Lifa, the shop owner’s daughter.
Lifa’s face was not unattractive. Her thick brown hair was neatly styled in a short bob, and her light blue eyes were sharp, making her quite beautiful. She was tall and slender, even taller than Yuuri. While her height might be considered tall for a woman, her overall balance was good, and she looked elegant in her uniform dress.
However, she was undeniably boyish. She had a sharp, handsome look, more like a cool boy than a pretty girl.
And that was her concern.
“…Um, I think Lifa-san is wonderful just as she is…”
“…Thanks for the comfort. But I’m the daughter of this shop, a salesgirl.”
“…Huh?”
Even though Yuuri asked, Lifa, who was gloomy, didn’t give a clear answer, so Yuuri looked at Leo, who had brought him here. Leo, understanding the situation, smiled wryly and picked up an accessory from the shop.
It was a lovely brooch with a light pink stone. Most of the accessories in the shop were sweet and cute. Rather than being beautiful, they were pretty.
…No matter what, they didn’t suit Lifa.
“The shop’s salesgirl not looking good in the shop’s products is a problem, right?”
“Is that Lifa-san’s concern?”
“That’s right. So, Yuuri-chan, do you have any ideas?”
Leo, who had explained roughly, looked at Yuuri with a smile. It was a look that suggested Leo knew what Yuuri would say. Ignoring the sweet accessories Leo was holding, Yuuri reached for another shelf. There were simple, almost plain accessories.
Yuuri picked up a small, crescent moon-shaped silver earring. He held it up to Lifa’s ear. The simple accessory suited Lifa’s sharp, cool vibe. It seemed perfect for someone who wanted to be stylish even if they were boyish.
“I think something like this would suit Lifa-san.”
“…Yuuri-kun, that’s for men.”
“Really? But it’s not like only men can use it, right?”
“…That’s true, but don’t women like cute accessories?”
Looking at the crescent moon earring, Lifa lowered her eyes. There was a hint of self-deprecation in her words for not being suited for cute accessories. Yuuri, not understanding her feelings, tilted his head and spoke.
“Not all women like pink, flowers, and cute things, you know?”
“…Huh?”
“I think the image of cute and pink for women exists, but that’s not all. Some women prefer simple, unobtrusive designs. Isn’t it more common for girls to like cute things?”
“…Is that so…?”
“Yes. Lifa-san, since you’re a girl, you might think that way. But for adult women, it’s not unusual to prefer more subdued designs.”
Yuuri remembered that items for women often used pink and floral motifs. His female family members would say, “No adult woman carries only pink wallets and pouches.” Subtle, understated designs can sometimes leave a better impression on women.
Of course, it’s not wrong to say that women like cute things. But it’s about the difference between wanting something and being able to wear it. For young girls, it’s different for grown women. Some might still suit pink and frills, but many do not. The accessory Lifa deemed for men might actually appeal to a certain number of women.
“But the people who buy these accessories are mostly men…”
“That’s because they’re placed with men’s items.”
“…Oh”
As Yuuri pointed out, the crescent moon earring he chose was placed among men’s accessories. Women wouldn’t search for accessories in that area, and even if they did, they wouldn’t feel comfortable picking them up.
Here, Lifa’s presence becomes valuable.
Changing the shop layout might be necessary, but if Lifa, the shop’s salesgirl, wore those accessories, it would show customers that “these accessories can be used by women too.” The visual effect would be significant. This way, Lifa could wear the shop’s accessories and promote them.
