Chapter 44: CH: 44 Tessa’s Crisis
[Chapter: 44 Tessa's Crisis]
Tessa ran to the front alone. "That bastard! I will make sure you regret ever playing with me like this. You bully me so much, you dead bastard! Bastard, you will regret it!"
Maybe because she got tired from running, she stopped and shook her head, then said to herself, "But he is right. My dad has always taken too much care of me, never allowing me to choose for myself. I am already an adult, so I can decide for myself."
"I shouldn't be looked down upon like this." Tessa smiled a self-deprecating smile. "But that bastard, I won't forgive him anyway."
A gust of wind passed by her, and the surrounding grass and trees made a slight rustle. In this quiet wilderness, it made people feel a little creepy.
Tessa put her hands together and looked around nervously. "What is this place? Where am I now?"
"Damn it," Tessa turned around, and there were dark areas all around her. She was mad and hadn't thought much as she ran away in a hurry, and now she didn't know how to go back.
Tessa was starting to regret the fact that she had run out alone. The night and the serene jungle were causing her fear, and since she was a girl who hadn't been alone before—especially in a jungle—it was normal for her fear to take over like this.
"How should I go back now? Dad must be worried about me by now." Tessa walked slowly forward while trying to stop shaking from fear.
The wood in front was shaking, as if something was making it shift.
"Who? Who is there?" Tessa asked, her heartbeat accelerating.
A roar came, and something big rushed out of the woods.
Tessa's eyes widened as it turned out to be a big brown bear. "Ah!" Tessa screamed out.
"Tessa! Tessa, where are you, Tessa?" Cade ran in the wilderness. Hearing a scream, his face suddenly changed color. "This is Tessa's voice. This is not good. I shouldn't have let her come alone." Cade accelerated and ran towards the source of the sound.
William stood on top of a small hill and showed a wicked smile. "It seems that she is in danger."
"Don't come near me!" Tessa ran forward, but the speed of the bear was faster than hers.
The big brown bear was about to catch up with Tessa, and its paw was about to hit her back.
"Ah!" Tessa yelled and rushed up to the rock in front, feeling scared out of her mind. She didn't even feel the scar on her back due to the adrenaline. The bear's paw had only scratched her clothes and skin, leaving a scratch on her back.
Tessa was panting, and the rock was almost two meters high. If it had been a normal situation, she would not have been able to climb up at all. Therefore, it must be true what they say—that when people are scared, they can gain the power to do anything.
Tessa crouched on the rock, muttering, "I'm not afraid of you. I'm not afraid of you."
"Roar!" The bear roared angrily.
The bear stood up, ready to climb the rock.
"I... I won't let you up here." Tessa touched a broken rock in a panic. It was about the size of three basketballs and weighed about 50 pounds.
Tessa quickly grabbed the rock, brought it next to the bear's head, and smashed it, dropping the 50-pound rock on top of its head.
Tessa smashed the rock with all her strength.
"Roar!" The bear roared and fell to the ground with blood on its head.
Tessa sat down, her body trembling. "I have to leave this place." Tessa stood up, shaking, trembling, and ran forward.
"Argh!" The brown bear growled. The blood had made it violent and mad, so it jumped onto the rock, chasing after Tessa.
"Ah!" Tessa tripped over a small rock and fell to the ground.
The bear ran towards Tessa. Tessa wanted to stand up, but the pain in her foot prevented her from doing so.
Tessa looked back, her eyes widening as the bear closed in. "No, William, you bastard, this is all happening because of you!"
"Oh really? What did I do?" A voice passed into Tessa's ear.
Tessa paused for a moment, hearing "the voice." Then she saw a figure standing in front of her, a trembling body with a strong back and shoulders.
Tessa watched, like a princess being saved by a prince, just like the fairy tales she had seen as a child, where the hero always saves the damsel in distress.
The big bear looked at the person who had suddenly appeared but did not stop running. It was in a frenzy because of the blood on its forehead. Roaring, the bear swung a paw at William.
William showed a smirk, drool coming out of his mouth as he thought about how to cook the bear.
William grabbed the bear's paw with ease. "A stupid bear, attacking me."
Click!
There was a crisp sound. The big brown bear gave a roar, and its arm was broken by William.
William kicked suddenly, centering on the bear's legs.
"Roar!" The big brown bear uttered an incomparable roar, its eyes protruding as its body flew out under the impact of the huge force, smashing the ground into a large pit.
William turned his head back, smiling, and shook his hand in front of Tessa's eyes. "Hey, come on, wake up."
"Ah!" Tessa yelled, her face turning red. "What the fuck are you doing?"
William smiled and said, "Your face is red. You were in a daze just now. Tell me, were you fascinated by how handsome I am?"
"You... you are a narcissistic bastard!" Tessa blushed, knowing he was making fun of her, teasing her.
William waved his hand. "No explanation is needed. I can understand. After all, I'm young, handsome, and powerful, so it's normal for you to be attracted to me."
"No!" Tessa exclaimed, her eyes dodging slightly.
"Really?" William said with a smile.
"Yes! I mean no!" Tessa's expression was somewhat guilty. Just before William appeared and kicked down the bear, Tessa had wanted someone to save her—like a dream. But of course, Tessa would not admit that. Since she was nearly killed, it must have been an illusion. This bastard was very different from her dream prince.
"Woo!" Suddenly, the screams of two wolves spread in the dark.
Tessa's face changed. "This is..."
"Oh, I forgot to tell you that there are many wolves and bears in this forest. And it seems that I just saw your father being chased by several wolves not far from here," William said with a laugh.
