Chapter 45: CH: 45 Coercion
[Chapter: 45 Coercion]
"What did you say?" Tessa yelled, standing up from the ground, but then uttered a painful cry and fell towards the ground once more.
William took a quick step, grabbed Tessa, pulled her into his arms, and said with a low smile, "It seems you've hurt your feet. Don't move so suddenly."
Tessa pushed William with both hands. "Let go of me, asshole, pervert. Let go of me quickly."
"Okay." William let go.
"Ah!" Tessa yelled, fell to the ground, and screamed, "You fucking bastard!"
William said with a smile, "You can't blame me for this one."
"Oh-oh," another wolf approached.
Tessa said with worry, "Asshole, did you really see my dad being chased by wolves? Help me get there!"
William just touched his ears with one hand, pretending not to hear Tessa at all.
"Damn it, how can I talk to you?" Tessa was a little mad, worried, and angry, fear occupying her heart.
William looked around. "You? Who do you want to talk to?"
"With you!" Tessa said angrily.
"Me?" William pointed a finger at himself. "Since you're talking to me, please address me respectfully when calling me."
"No way in hell would I do that!" Tessa angrily refused.
"There is no other way. If you want my help, be more respectful from now on, or you can go and see if the wolves have already finished—and maybe you can find the old man's bones." William walked towards the dying big brown bear.
Tessa's eyes flashed with intense conflict. She slowly stood up and shouted, "Damn it! I didn't ask for your help. Even without you, I can rely on myself!"
"Good. I like self-reliant women," William said, squatting beside the brown bear.
Tessa limped forward, and suddenly a scream rang out. When she heard the voice, Tessa's face changed drastically. "Dad!"
William squatted next to the brown bear, inspecting it. "A fat bear. It must be good enough to eat."
Tessa gritted her teeth and asked, "Why are you doing this? Why did you save us then? Go and save my dad now."
"You see, I do things depending on my mood, and I never even got the respect I should for saving your asses." William shook his head. "Why do you want me to save your dad now? It's a wolf. I could even die from their coordinated attacks." William shook his head again.
Tessa felt furious. "With your power, can you even die?"
"Nice bear meat, yes." William stopped talking to Tessa and focused on the bear in front of him.
Tessa's eyes flashed with pain. She could only ask for help from this bastard. Why? Why are you not by my side at this time when I need you? Why do I have to be alone and so helpless?
"Please, I'm begging you," Tessa forced the words through gritted teeth.
William stood up and then ran to Tessa's side. "See? I know how to help people. Wouldn't it have been nice if you'd done this to begin with? You're so stubborn."
"Fuck you!" Tessa didn't finish her words, as she felt him hug her. "Ah!" Then a strong wind blew against her face as she moved fast—too fast.
"What's wrong? Don't worry; you won't die."
"Bastard!" Tessa yelled, but her heartbeat was accelerating, and William's strong scent made her feel dizzy.
"Here we go." William stopped running.
Tessa exhaled heavily. "Let me down. How long will you hold me?"
"Oh." William let go of Tessa.
Tessa glared at William and looked towards the front, only to see that Cade was surrounded by two wolves, holding a two-meter-long dead tree branch in his hand as he faced the wolves.
The two wolves circled Cade, looking for an opportunity to attack. Cade's trousers had a large tear, and there was blood on one of his legs.
"Dad!" Tessa called.
Hearing her voice, Cade looked at Tessa. "Tessa! Hurry, get out of here! This place is dangerous. Hurry!"
"Dad, watch out!" Tessa yelled.
"Roar!" A wolf leapt into the air and rushed toward Cade.
Cade crouched hastily. The wolf's body passed over his back, its claws tearing through Cade's clothes and leaving a deep wound.
Cade roared and waved the dead wood branch in his hands wildly, temporarily forcing the wolves back. "Tessa, leave quickly! Hurry and get out of here!"
Tessa looked at William and said loudly, "Go and save my dad!"
"What did you say?" William cupped his ear mockingly.
"Asshole, tell me, what do you want?" Tessa yelled angrily.
"Yeah, ask nicely. I'm not your servant, so when asking for help, you should know your place." William spread his arms.
"Damn it!" Tessa waved her fist at William.
"HUH? Why are you getting so excited? It's bad to fight the only person who can help you, you know." William grabbed Tessa's fist and pulled her into his arms.
"Let me go, or I will bite you." Tessa bit at William's chest, only to feel like she had bitten a steel plate. Her teeth almost broke.
"It's getting dangerous for him, you know," William said slowly.
Tessa hurriedly looked at Cade and saw him being attacked again. "Dad! Hell! Asshole, what do you want from me to help him?" she shouted.
"Smart." William snapped his fingers and smiled. "When you see Shane again, I want you to break up with him."
"Impossible," Tessa resolutely said.
"Huh. Such a strong relationship that you choose it over your father? Do you want your dear old dad to live, or your relationship with your puny boyfriend? Okay then, I'm leaving. I'm going to roast bear meat. If I hurry, I can still get the meat." William started walking away.
Tessa looked at William's back resentfully. "You are despicable. Bastard! What you're doing is really shameless!" William continued walking.
Tessa's eyes flashed with struggle. Finally, she murmured helplessly, "I promise you, I'll do it."
"Shouldn't you have done this to begin with? You're just wasting my time." William turned around and smiled.
"You're satisfied, right? So please, go and rescue my dad!" Tessa exclaimed angrily.
"Okay. Since I keep my promises, I'll naturally save him." William ran toward Cade.
Cade knelt on one knee, panting heavily. After swatting a wolf away with a dry branch, the other wolf leapt toward Cade mid-air.
Cade was too late to fight back, and he could only watch as the wolf's jaws closed in on his head.
