Chapter 178: Entering Thunder Rock Mountain Range

"Brother Mo Tie, who might these two be?" Lin Langtian's gaze swept over the group beside Mo Tie as he spoke in a calm tone. He could sense that these two possessed half-step Nirvana strength; most likely, they were the leaders of mid-level dynasties.

"Hehe, Brother Langtian, allow me to introduce you. This is Tang Xuan of the Tang Dynasty," Mo Tie said, gesturing to the striking woman in red. He then pointed to the other, a man of ordinary appearance. "And this is Liu Xuan of the Xuan Yun Empire. Both are half-step Nirvana stage experts. By joining forces on this trip into the Thunder Rock Mountains, we can increase our chances of survival."

Lin Langtian nodded slightly, then introduced Lin Dong and Mo Ling, who stood behind him.

"Rumor has it that you defeated Jin Mu in a single strike, Master Lin. Have you reached Nirvana?" Tang Xuan, the woman in red with a delicate yet proud face, asked softly. Although she projected an air of confidence, she had the sense to hide it in the presence of Lin Langtian's imposing aura and remarkable reputation.

"No, I haven't reached Nirvana," Lin Langtian replied flatly. "I just have some special techniques, and Jin Mu was unprepared, which allowed me to take him down in one strike."

"Even so, your abilities are impressive, Brother Lin," remarked Liu Xuan, the ordinary-looking man with a sharp glint in his eyes.

"With Brother Langtian and the Flame Alliance joining us, we're much stronger," Mo Tie added as he looked out over the massive crowd that had gathered beyond the city wall. Without saying more, he leaped from the wall and led the group toward the vast mountain range in the distance. Tang Xuan and the others quickly followed.

Seeing this, Lin Langtian motioned to the members of the Flame Alliance, and they also joined the forward march.

The Thunder Rock Mountain Range was vast, with towering peaks piercing the clouds like giant pillars. Faintly, the low, aggressive roars of beasts echoed through the forest, adding an oppressive atmosphere to the landscape. The wild beasts of the ancient battlefield were already vicious, and the influx of adventurers into their territory further triggered their ferocity.

Despite the sheer size of the assembled groups, beasts would often charge fearlessly into the fray, causing trouble for many. Along the way, Lin Langtian's large group encountered some beast attacks, resulting in minor injuries for a few Flame Alliance members. Fortunately, Lin Langtian and the others intervened swiftly, allowing the group to continue moving forward with minimal delay.

"These beasts are hard to deal with," Mo Tie said with a sigh after dispatching one particularly stubborn creature.

Lin Langtian glanced around, noting the sounds of combat resounding from all directions and the faint scent of blood lingering in the air.

"These attacks are minor skirmishes," Tang Xuan said, her eyes scanning the surroundings. "The real onslaught will come at night. By then, this group will likely shrink by at least a third."

Mo Tie's expression grew serious as he nodded. He then turned to Lin Langtian and the others, saying, "When night falls, we should set up camp and fortify our defenses. Everyone needs to stay together to fend off the beasts."

No one objected to his suggestion. The beasts at night were particularly terrifying—not only more ferocious but also unrelentingly fearless. Moreover, their own strength would be diminished, as their Yuan Power would be suppressed, significantly weakening their fighting capacity.

Suddenly, the sound of whistling wind reached them from above, and Lin Langtian looked up to see a large group flying arrogantly through the sky. Their flamboyant entrance drew some hostile looks, but once people noticed the emblems on their clothes, they averted their gazes with uneasy expressions.

"What a powerful lineup. There must be at least ten half-step Nirvana experts among them. Which dynasty is that?" Lin Dong, standing beside Lin Langtian, asked in surprise as he observed the scene.

"That would be the Da Yuan Dynasty," Mo Tie replied with a hint of apprehension in his voice. "They're one of the two most powerful factions in Sun City. They used to be classified as a high-level dynasty but experienced some setbacks. Even so, their foundation far surpasses that of typical mid-level dynasties. The other major faction in Sun City is the Lingyun Dynasty. Though they're technically a mid-level dynasty, they've grown rapidly over the past few years. Their leader, in particular, is known to be quite fearsome. He could have reached the Nirvana stage long ago but is holding off to gather more Nirvana Pills."

Lin Langtian nodded in understanding. It seemed the leaders of both the Da Yuan and Lingyun Dynasties, like him, had the capacity to break through to Nirvana but had chosen to hold back. With the Art of Spirit Sealing, Lin Langtian felt no urgency to advance, preferring to build up his foundation further in the half-step Nirvana stage.

As the groups delved deeper into the expansive Thunder Rock Mountain Range, the mountains never saw a moment's peace. The constant harassment of beasts slowed everyone's pace as the sun gradually dipped lower.

At sunset, when the sky turned crimson and the sun dipped below the horizon, everyone came to a halt. Quickly, small groups spread out, setting up camps as swiftly as possible, preparing for the coming storm.

The atmosphere was charged with tension, like the calm before a downpour, and soon camps began to appear throughout the mountain range. Lin Langtian directed the Flame Alliance members to set up a well-fortified camp, as their numbers warranted extra caution in this beast-dominated area.

Once the campsite was ready, Lin Dong, Mo Ling, and the other core members gathered around Lin Langtian. They positioned themselves strategically around the Flame Alliance group, with the Golden Crow and Little Flame on alert, their eyes gleaming as they scanned the surroundings.

"When the beast horde attacks, each of you will lead a team in defense. If you can't hold them off, I'll step in to assist," Lin Langtian said, noting the solemn looks on their faces.

"Understood." Lin Dong and the others visibly relaxed at his words, assured by his presence.

Just as Lin Langtian finished speaking, everyone tensed, lifting their gazes to the distant darkness. From within the shadows of the mountain range, countless pairs of red eyes glowed, slowly approaching.

The beast horde was coming! (End of Chapter)
