Chapter 41:
Chapter 41: It’s Not Like I Haven’t Seen It Before:
“Whoosh…”
Qin Luo took a deep breath as he reached the door, keyed in the password, and entered.
The spacious three-bedroom apartment, with its exquisite decor, exuded a low-key luxury. It was fully equipped with various appliances and furniture, all from well-known brands.
Owning such an apartment in Shanghai meant a net worth of at least tens of millions, and this apartment didn’t belong to Qin Luo; it belonged to Qin Zhitao.
Or rather, Jiang Zhitao.
Jiang Zhitao was Qin Luo’s sister.
Five years ago, when she was taken away, she changed her name to Jiang Zhitao.
Jiang Zhitao’s biological parents were wealthy capitalists with numerous companies.
Under their influence, Jiang Zhitao officially debuted as a star at the age of 22 after graduating. Thanks to her outstanding looks and talent, she became a household name within just three years.
During a phone call with his sister, Qin Luo learned that she hadn’t returned to their small town not because she didn’t want to but because her status didn’t allow it.
Her biological parents didn’t want the story of finding their long-lost daughter after twenty years to become public knowledge.
As a big star, Jiang Zhitao’s identity was sensitive. If recognized, the story could be exposed.
Thus, she had stayed in Shanghai all these years since her company, where her father was a major shareholder, was located there.
Learning that his sister was in Shanghai, Qin Luo worked hard in high school, striving to excel, and eventually achieved his goal by getting into Shanghai Finance University.
Yet, in retrospect, he wasn’t sure why he was so determined to come to Shanghai.
His sister now belonged to another family, and he wondered what he could change by being there.
Qin Luo leaned back on the soft sofa, reminiscing about arriving in Shanghai alone two years ago. He claimed he wanted to find his sister but felt lost, unsure where to start.
Then he received a call from his sister.
Jiang Zhitao gave him an address, saying it was her home, usually unoccupied, and suggested he settle there.
Unbeknownst to him, she had also helped arrange for him to be a day student while keeping his dormitory at the university, allowing him to stay at the apartment anytime.
However, Qin Luo hardly ever stayed there because it didn’t feel like home.
Apart from their initial meeting when he arrived in Shanghai, he rarely saw Jiang Zhitao.
During that meeting, he realized she was no longer the same sister who would fiercely protect him.
Though she remained beautiful with a sweet smile, she felt distant, no longer the little tiger who would pounce to defend her brother.
Despite this, the bond they shared persisted in Qin Luo’s heart, prompting him to visit during holidays, hoping to see her.
Unfortunately, Jiang Zhitao rarely stayed in the apartment, and their meetings over the past two years were few and far between. Today seemed no different.
Bored, Qin Luo went to the kitchen to wash an apple.
Just as he bit into it, he heard light footsteps and turned around, startled.
A beautiful figure emerged from the master bedroom.
She wore a black tank top, accentuating her ample chest and revealing her slender waist and cute dimples. Her denim shorts showcased her long, slender, and perfectly shaped legs.
Her simple, cool outfit highlighted her impressive figure. Her face, naturally, was equally stunning.
With delicate features and an elegant yet noble aura, she resembled a pure lotus flower. Her sharp, almond-shaped eyes and pointed face added a touch of delicate charm.
Despite growing up with this face, Qin Luo couldn’t help but be amazed every time he saw her.
Jiang Zhitao had left the Qin family at twenty, and now, at twenty-five, she had only grown more beautiful.
If there was any woman in Qin Luo’s world who could rival Ji Yan in looks, it was undoubtedly Jiang Zhitao. To him, Jiang Zhitao epitomized the pinnacle of beauty and figure.
While Qin Luo stared in amazement, Jiang Zhitao’s gaze fell on him, looking even more surprised.
Although she was familiar with her brother’s appearance, today he seemed a lot more attractive. His features hadn’t changed, but his face seemed more defined, and his familiar expressions hinted at a mature charm.
After a deep look, Jiang Zhitao turned and went back to her room, closing the door with a bang.
“Why did she look at me so strangely?” Qin Luo wondered aloud. Then, as if realizing something, he touched his face and muttered, “My damn charm…”
Soon, Jiang Zhitao reappeared, now wearing a white T-shirt and cropped jeans. Though still a cool, homey outfit, it was much more conservative than before.
Qin Luo couldn’t help but mutter, “It’s not like I haven’t seen it before…”
Jiang Zhitao shot him a sideways glance.
Qin Luo quickly cleared his throat, pretending nothing had happened, and casually asked, “Why are you back today?”
“This is my home. Can’t I come back?” she replied coolly.
“…”
Damn, this conversation wasn’t fun.
Qin Luo felt stifled and stopped talking, sighing internally.
People were strange. When he couldn’t see Jiang Zhitao, he wanted to see her more, even moving to Shanghai for college. But after a few meetings, he found there wasn’t much point. Her words could be sharp, and he couldn’t argue back since they were no longer truly siblings, leaving him feeling uneasy.
Just like now.
“Did you get plastic surgery?” Jiang Zhitao suddenly asked.
