Chapter 130: Chapter 130: Submit to Me, Worship Me, Spread My Name
The searing, high-temperature beam of light seemed poised to split Wakanda in two. Thankfully, it ceased just before reaching the capital, after cutting a path across the vast grasslands.
When the beam disappeared, Princess Shuri, monitoring the situation from the safety center, nearly collapsed as she surveyed the damage. The beam had carved a deep scar through both the army and the plains.
It was a dead zone.
A wide swath of blackened earth stretched before her, lifeless and charred. The remnants of war vehicles scattered along the blackened path were partially melted from the explosions. The soldiers caught in the beam's wake had been reduced to ashes.
Even the fighter jets, though not directly hit, suffered catastrophic damage. The energy radiation and intense heat had melted their undersides, causing engines to explode and sending several planes plummeting to the ground.
Shuri shuddered at the thought. If the beam had swept horizontally instead of striking in a straight line...
She clenched her fists. That would have been the end of Wakanda.
Fortunately, the mysterious figure seemed unable to sustain such a powerful attack indefinitely. The beam stopping short of the capital was proof of that.
She quickly contacted her brother. "Brother, don't worry. Such a massive energy release must have taken a toll on him. He likely can't use it again anytime soon. Moreover, he deliberately stopped the beam before reaching the capital—this is likely his limit."
Hearing this, T'Challa finally exhaled a breath of relief. "Good work, Shuri. Keep monitoring him. Ready the border weapons system to standby and prepare to fire at any moment."
"Understood."
While the siblings communicated, Azu strode forward.
"Attack!" T'Challa commanded.
"Focus all firepower on eliminating the invader!"
"For Wakanda!" the soldiers roared in unison.
Azu watched the frenzied Wakandan soldiers with a faint smile. Despite his earlier display of power, they still dared to fight.
Do they think that was my limit? he mused. How naive.
To him, Wakandans, for all their technological superiority, were blinded by their arrogance. Their confidence in vibranium and advanced technology was their greatest weakness.
The truth was simple: Azu hadn't unleashed more power earlier not because he couldn't, but because he didn't want to risk damaging Wakanda's precious vibranium mines.
As the Wakandan forces mobilized, the sky filled with jets, the ground rumbled with tanks, and thousands of soldiers aimed their weapons at Azu. The sheer volume of firepower unleashed in his direction was enough to shatter the earth itself.
Bullets ricocheted off his double-layered bio-field, falling harmlessly to the ground as flattened metal discs. Energy beams and lasers splashed against the field, scattering into rippling waves of light. Missiles and artillery shells exploded mere meters away, but the flames barely grazed him.
Azu yawned, bored by their futile efforts.
Then, his eyes glowed golden. Twin beams of energy shot forth, sweeping the skies and cutting through Wakanda's fighter jets.
The jets attempted evasive maneuvers, their speed and agility far surpassing the capabilities of any other nation's aircraft. Yet, they could not escape Azu's heat vision. The beams, guided by absolute targeting, bent mid-air to chase down their prey.
One by one, the jets erupted into fiery explosions, raining down flaming debris across the battlefield. The sky lit up with bursts of fire and smoke, creating a spectacular display that looked more like a fireworks show than a battle.
Each fireball, however, marked the loss of a jet and a skilled pilot.
T'Challa's heart ached with every explosion.
"Why?!" he roared, charging through the chaos toward the source of the golden beams.
"Cease fire!" General Okoye shouted, raising her hand. "Stop all attacks! Do not hit Prince T'Challa!"
As the soldiers halted their assault, T'Challa plunged into the smoke, his voice echoing through his helmet. "Why are you attacking my people?! Why are you doing this?!"
Azu ceased his heat vision, crossing his arms and smirking. "Why? Do I need a reason? If you must know, how about this: because it pleases me."
"You madman! You demon!" T'Challa's fury burned bright. "By the souls of my ancestors, I will end you and avenge those who have fallen!"
With a roar, the Black Panther lunged forward, claws gleaming as they slashed toward Azu.
Yet, Azu didn't dodge. He didn't even flinch.
T'Challa's vibranium claws stopped just short of Azu's skin, blocked by the imperceptible barrier of his bio-field.
Strike after strike, the Black Panther clawed and swiped, his movements a blur of speed. Yet, no matter how fierce his attacks, he couldn't even scratch the surface of Azu's defenses.
Azu caught T'Challa's wrist effortlessly, lifting him off the ground with a bemused expression. "Is this how Wakandans fight? Scratching at their enemies like feral cats?"
T'Challa twisted his wrist, breaking free and flipping mid-air. He lashed out with a powerful kick aimed at Azu's head.
Bang!
The kick landed squarely, sending a shockwave rippling outward. Yet Azu stood firm, unmoved.
The Wakandan soldiers, witnessing their prince land a direct hit, erupted in cheers.
"Well done, Your Highness!"
"For Wakanda!"
"Black Panther forever!"
Their celebration was short-lived.
Azu grabbed T'Challa by the ankle and flung him like a ragdoll, sending him crashing into the earth. The impact created a massive crater, shaking the ground and scattering debris in all directions.
Despite the devastating blow, T'Challa climbed to his feet, his vibranium suit absorbing much of the impact.
But even he couldn't deny the truth anymore.
This man wasn't just strong—he was invincible.
"A god..." T'Challa muttered under his breath.
"No," Azu said, his voice booming as he ascended into the sky, red cape billowing behind him. "Not a god. A conqueror."
Hovering above the battlefield, he looked down upon the defeated Wakandan forces.
"Submit to me," he declared, "worship me, and spread my name. In return, I shall protect Wakanda. Refuse, and I will bring ruin to this nation."
The Wakandan king, T'Chaka, stepped forward, his voice solemn. "We... surrender."
Azu's smile widened. "Good. Then let the age of the Conqueror begin."
