Chapter 40: Turning The Tables

"It's futile," Knox said. "You won't beat me as you are. But since you like relying on cultivation so much, perhaps you'll stand a better chance if you aim to make a breakthrough into the Soul Formation Realm."

As he spoke those patronizing words, he controlled the unruly Innate Energy in the tiny |Ravenous Tear|, molding it to his design. Then, with a two-finger slash, he cut forward.

A crystal rift was etched into the sky, somehow hitting all the |Ravenous Tears| at once.

SHING!

Simultaneously, the |Ravenous Tears| ruptured and split open. The energy contained within them then traveled toward Knox, allowing for another seamless transition of ownership. Swirling over his palms were more than forty tiny water droplets, each one capable of erasing a small city.

"If you value your dignity, then I'd give up while you're ahead," Knox proposed in a tone permeating murderous intent. "Forfeit your life; become my Loot."

"COURTING DEATH!!!"

Blood vessels burst in Tear-Drop Child's eyes as he burned through his Life Essence, bringing his Battle Power to the peak of the Mid-Nascent Soul Realm. After attaining such power, he drove his Innate Sea to the brink of collapse by using up more Innate Energy than he was supposed to have.

"Ravenous Tear - Ultimate Move: Drowning Out The World!!"

Tear-Drop Child's furious bellow was followed by the summoning of hundreds of |Ravenous Tears|, each one possessing twice as much destructive power. They filled the heavens, all in the process of falling steeply.

A catastrophic meteor shower!

"Haiz," Knox sighed, shaking his head. "You're not going to relent so easily, huh? Fine then, I suppose I'll just have to beat you with even more overwhelming might."

From the pills he had devoured with his Physique, he acquired more than enough Innate Energy to break through to the 15th Stage of Qi Condensation. This also meant that he had a lot of leftover Innate Energy following his breakthrough.

Innate Energy that he crazily refined beneath a rainfall of city-destroying attacks.

"You told me that the Qi Condensation Realm wasn't enough to bridge the gap between it and the Nascent Soul Realm," Knox said as a goldish-platinum surge of Innate Energy enveloped him. "Very well then. I guess I'll just have to reduce the gap from four Major Realms to three."

WHALABOOOOM!!

A massive eruption of Innate Energy escaped his body and engulfed the entirety of what used to be the prosperous Cultivation City of Cryfall. The ground caved even further, leaving the remains of the city as a buried relic of the past.

A massive, vortex-like sinkhole opened up below him, mirroring the destructive flow of his Aura. It also represented his quickly forming Innate Barrier.

In the 1st Major Realm—the Body Refinement Realm—the signature evolution trait was to accustom one's body to the exposure of Innate Energy.

For the 2nd Major Realm—the Qi Condensation Realm—the signature evolution trait was the creation of one's Divine Sense. The average size for a recently formed Divine Sense had an approximate width and length of one meter by one meter.

As for the 3rd Major Realm—the Foundation Establishment Realm—the signature evolution trait was the formation of an Innate Energy Barrier. The average sphere of influence for an Innate Barrier was roughly one meter by one meter.

For Knox, however…

"1,000 meters by 1,000 meters," he noted as he watched his Innate Barrier complete its formation. "Not bad."

Early Foundation Establishment Realm - Achieved!

"What!?" Tear-Drop Child's brows raised to his hairline, his traveler's hat flying off due to his astonishment. "How could you have possibly broken through so many times in such a short period of time!?? T-This is… Is that what a Fate-bearer truly is…!??"

Knox smirked, retracting his newly formed Innate Barrier. "I still have no idea what a Fate-bearer even is, but if I have one thing to say to you, then it's that you suffer… from a Skill Issue."

SHING! SHING! SHING!

His previous few dozen Intent Swords had multiplied into hundreds, each one three times larger than before. They spun tens of times faster as well, moving many times the speed of sound. The sound barrier repeatedly shattered around every single one of them—and did so without them actually moving from their spots.

A great sense of foreboding crept up Tear-Drop Child's expression as he paled. And without hesitation, he left his sea of |Ravenous Tears| behind as a distraction that he used to slip away.

"Ho?" Knox mused, shifting his emotionless gold eyes between the |Ravenous Tears| and the fleeing kid. "It's cute that you believe you honestly have a chance of escape after getting me so riled up. But no matter, you get what you ask for. And beggars can't be choosers."

With a slight hand movement, he apathetically watched as hundreds of his black Intent Swords zipped through the air. They shot in and out of the equally numbered |Ravenous Tears|, reducing them to no more than popped water balloons.

Knox, of course, gathered up the dispersed Energy. He reformed said Energy into newly made |Ravenous Tears|, each thousands of times smaller. All of which bobbed up and down in a tranquil way.

After briefly glancing at them hovering above his right hand, Knox shifted his focus to the fleeing Tear-Drop Child. He shook his head in mock disappointment before stretching out his hand and crushing.

"If you do this, the Water Deity and my brothers and sisters will have your head—!!"

POP!

Tear-Drop Child wasn't even able to get out his cliché villain line before exploding like a gory firework.

*Ding!*

[You have slain an Early Nascent Soul Realm Cultivator!]

[A medium-sized pile of Attribute Orbs has dropped!]

[Strength +217,000]

[Agility +230,000]

[Endurance +300,000]

[Endurance +225,000]

[Affinity +15,000]

X62 more…

"Good shit," Knox crudely said as he felt his power improve by a small margin. "Normally, a single Cultivator won't drop more than a couple dozen Attribute Orbs, but it appears that this Child of the Water Fuckface is more special than most. Perhaps he really was a Genius—hard to say for sure."
