Chapter 95 : Not a fetish!

"It's roughly 250k credits, sir." Vivian replied, still unsure if she heard him right. If she somehow managed to close a deal the commission alone would be huge and she would most likely get promoted.

"Uhm... That's a bit too much." Although Uriel would receive a huge amount of money from the Mapple corporation, they would deduct the price of the orichalcum dagger from his check and he didn't know its estimated price. This meant that he couldn't count on that money until he received it. "I mean, I should have enough money to buy this place by the end of the week...

probably but I'd like to have this place cleaned and prepared for renovations as soon as possible." He continued as he had an idea on who to ask for help in buying the place.

Vivian didn't know whether Uriel was trying to scam her or if he was telling the truth. She would love to sell the property as soon as possible, but allowing a potential buyer to use the place before signing the deed was a huge risk as they could wreck the place which would mean she would have to pay for the damages. She sized Uriel up, pondering if she could trust him.

He didn't look that wealthy and his manner of speech wasn't arrogant either, but she had heard of many people from the slums with unusually powerful traits that were able to rise in society in no time. In the end, what made her take a decision was the serious look of his eyes. She prided herself as a great judge of character and his determined gaze was something she didn't see quite often.

"If you place a deposit you would be able to use the place until you sort your finances." Vivian said, fearing she might lose a great opportunity if she refused.

Uriel thanked her, pulled out his phone, and proceeded to transfer almost all the money he had left on his bank account to her company, and Vivian left with a wide smile still unable to believe how easy it had been.

"What do you think, Nika?" Uriel asked.

"Oh! Now you want my opinion!" She replied offended.

"Whatever, It's not like it matters anyway." He rubbed his temples in annoyance.

"You were scammed. I don't know how much the deposit was but, this place is not up to today's standards, even sleeping out in the streets would be safer." Said Nika mockingly.

"I know it's not up to today's standards but it looks sturdy enough. With a bit of hard work and some renovations this place will be perfect. Anyway, we now have a roof over our heads and I bet you're as hungry as I am, so let's have something to eat."

"Is this how you ask a girl for a date? You still have a lot to learn." She said with a bare face.

"Uh? Who's asking you out? If your trait wasn't so annoying I would kick you out, but I know nothing I do could keep you from appearing out of nowhere." He sighed.

Since Uriel didn't have any means of cooking or storing food either, he asked for takeout. As dangerous as the slums were, it didn't mean they were savages. As long as people had the money they could still have wi-fi, water, deliveries and electricity. Although the power did go out from time to time inexplicably.

When the delivery guy arrived Uriel tipped generously. Even if he wasn't swimming in money, he was an ascended now and he didn't want to be stingy towards an honest worker, when he just spent what would be considered a small fortune just in putting up a deposit.

"I think you made a mistake. Food was only 30 credits." The delivery person pointed out, he was no older than fifteen and carried a tired expression on his face, something far too common in the slums. Surprised by his honesty, Uriel replied with a smile.

"I didn't, I did deliveries myself when I was your age, now I'm just paying it forward."

"Wow! Thank you sir! Please call me whenever you need anything, I'll be here in a Jiffy."

Being called 'sir' by someone so close to his age felt wrong in so many ways, but Uriel kept smiling and nodded.

When Uriel finished eating his synthetic burger from McDolan's he placed the box on the ground and took as much distance as he could. He then placed his hand near his belt and wiggled his fingers for a while, picturing himself as a gunslinger of the wild west.

The gunshot resounded and Uriel was left astonished as the bullet missed the mark by a good two meters. If that wasn't bad enough, the projectile pierced through the concrete like butter leaving behind a tiny circular hole in the wall that lead to the bathroom.

"Dammit! it's my first day here and I'm already wrecking the place." Uriel sweated cold at the thought of being forced to pay for the damages. "Was this thing always so powerful?"

Uriel was surprised, to say the least, by the immense destructive power of his revolver. He thought maybe he had received some sort of powerup after receiving the Water warlock's blessing, but that wasn't the case. The only reason why the bullet could pierce through the building wall like it was nothing was because the wall wasn't reinforced with alloy like any modern building.

It was just old fashioned concrete, the same kind present in all of the buildings from the lost city. In other words, renovating the place would be really expensive.

"Your aim is still shit."

"I know, ok!? That's why I'm trying to get better, but I won't be able to practice properly until I renovate this place. Speaking of renovating the place, you should start by cleaning the second floor."

"Why should I do something like that?" Nika replied with her arms crossed in a defiant attitude. Uriel gazed at the shameless woman in front of him for a few seconds. She looked like the mix between a beggar and a stripper since her clothes were all dirty, tattered and revealing.

"I won't accept any freeloaders, if you don't work you don't eat. Consider today's meal the only freebie you're getting. Oh, and we also need to do something about your clothes"

"Oh! this?" She spun around her heels, showing off her figure with a teasing smile. "I thought you liked it."

"I've seen drunken beggars dressed more properly. Now get to cleaning while I buy you some clothes."

"I told you, I'm not going to clean shit."

"Oh? Didn't you say you'd do anything? How do you feel about maid outfits? Should I get you one of those?" Uriel said jokingly. "Perhaps that way you'd understand your position."

"Oh, so that's your fetish!" She exclaimed as if she had found the cure for hiccups.

But Uriel had left the room before she even finished her movement and couldn't hear or see her. He opened his cellphone to buy Nika some cheap but decent looking clothes, needless to say they were regular clothes. Thanks to the active ability of his lewd magazine, Uriel didn't even need to ask her what size to buy.

He also bought the essential furniture, it was also cheap but it would take longer to arrive which meant he will be forced to spend his first night in his first there sleeping in the floor.

"You really are fast!" Uriel exclaimed when the same kid appeared on his doorstep, not even half an hour after placing his order.

"I live nearby." The kid shrugged as he handed Uriel the female clothes he bought and received the generous tip with a smile but then, something unexpected happened. "I will totally keep it a secret."

"What?"

"Your... habit. I'll take what I know to my grave!" The kid winked as he quickly retreated, leaving Uriel puzzled for a few seconds.

'What did he mean by that?' His face paled when he realized what the kid was referring to was crossdressing.

"No! Wait!" He shouted, but the kid was long gone.
