Genshin Impact: I'm a Slime

Chapter 6: Chapter 6

"Shh, it looks like the dragon is talking to that green guy."

Paimon made a shushing gesture, peeking out from above Lumine.

Lumine, in the middle, also peeked out, while Famas, at the bottom, joined the trio in their stealthy spying.

Paimon whispered, "Who is that guy? He's not afraid of the dragon at all. Did he control the dragon to attack humans?"

"We don't know the full story yet, so let's not jump to conclusions," Lumine replied, always maintaining a neutral stance when things were unclear. Besides, the boy looked gentle, not like a menacing figure.

"Is that a girl?" Lumine asked curiously.

"I think it's a boy," Paimon guessed.

"It's definitely a boy!"

Famas declared firmly.

"Such a cute boy? Famas, don't lie to Paimon!"

"Shh."

Famas made a shushing motion, reminding Paimon to stay quiet. He turned his attention back to Dvalin and Venti in the distance.

"Dvalin, I know I've been at fault. Please don't be angry," Venti said, his expression somber, his emerald-green eyes filled with regret.

"You humans are always so self-righteous."

Dvalin bared his sharp fangs, his voice filled with rage. His three pairs of wings spread out, and a powerful gust of wind swept across the ground, rapidly spreading in all directions.

"You must have misunderstood something. Everyone loves peace, and you've always been a friend of Mondstadt. So…"

Venti instinctively raised his hand to shield himself from the strong wind, hoping to calm Dvalin down.

Paimon grabbed Lumine's skirt, her tiny body almost being blown away by the fierce wind.

Suddenly, Lumine's body glowed with a teal light, and a sharp pain shot through her arm—except for the part wrapped by Famas, which remained warm and soft.

"Who's there?" Dvalin's gaze shifted to where the trio was hiding, then back to Venti below him.

"Is this why you came here today? To hunt me down with others?"

Dvalin, now even more furious, flapped his wings and soared into the sky, sending another powerful gust of wind in all directions.

"No, Dvalin, let me explain!"

Venti's expression hardened, as if he knew someone was hiding behind the tree. His brows relaxed, and then he dissipated into a wisp of green wind, disappearing into the air.

"What just happened?" Lumine looked at her hands, the strange teal glow fading as Dvalin flew away.

"That was so scary! I thought we were going to get eaten!" Paimon patted her flat chest, finally relaxing after confirming the danger had passed.

"What's the relationship between that boy and the dragon?"

Since the conversation had been brief, Paimon and Lumine couldn't make sense of it. Famas, who knew what was going on, didn't bother to explain.

"Look, there's a small red crystal here!"

After making sure both Dvalin and Venti were gone, Paimon and Lumine approached the spot where Dvalin had been. There, they found a small red crystal.

"What is this?"

Paimon and Lumine both saw the crystal, which was a tear shed by Dvalin after being poisoned by Durin. After some fruitless discussion, Lumine pocketed the crystal, and the trio continued toward Mondstadt. However, the closer they got, the more turbulent the weather became, as if the city was engulfed in a storm.

Famas knew this was the effect of Dvalin's corrupted blood, turning the once-prosperous Mondstadt into a place of suffering, where even a clear sky was hard to come by.

Soon, the trio could see the buildings of Mondstadt in the distance. But just then, a voice called out to them.

"Hey, you! Wait a moment."

"Huh?"

Lumine looked around but saw no one.

"Over here!"

A girl leaped down from a height of about five meters, her dark, slightly grayish-blue wings stabilizing her landing.

The girl was dressed in a clean, fiery red outfit, wearing brown gloves and white thigh-high socks with red trim. A finely crafted bow hung on her back, and a crimson tassel-like ornament dangled from her waist—a closer look revealed it was a Pyro Vision.

Her brown hair was sleek and flowing, and the most eye-catching detail was the delicate red bow tied at the top of her head, giving her a lively and adorable first impression.

The girl quickly approached the group, placing her right hand across her chest and giving a slight bow. "May the Anemo Archon protect you, strangers. I'm Amber, an Outrider for the Knights of Favonius."

After introducing herself, Amber smiled brightly, revealing a row of pearly white teeth.

"And? What do you want with us?" Before Lumine could speak, Paimon floated up to Amber, hands on her hips, demanding an explanation.

"You're not from Mondstadt, are you? Please state your identity!"

Amber, not one to back down, raised her bow, ready to fire a painful double shot if anything seemed amiss.

While the three chattered, Famas couldn't take his eyes off the Pyro Vision hanging from Amber's waist. He had seen Diluc's Pyro Vision a few days ago, and now here was another. But he could only admire it from afar. Extracting divine power from a Vision without harming it would be difficult, let alone borrowing it from its owner.

"If only I could ask Venti to help me borrow a Vision for a few days, it'd be so much easier."

Though he knew Barbatos was famously hands-off when it came to governing Mondstadt, surely he had the authority to lend a few Visions, right?

"What should I say when I meet Barbatos? 'Hey, slacking-off Anemo Archon?' 'Hello, weakest of the Seven, Barbatos?'"

"Ah, no, I guess I'm the weakest of the Seven now."

"Curse that sneaky Morax."

After cursing Morax once more, Famas turned his attention back to Lumine, as he heard her introducing him to Amber.

"This is Famas, a Pyro Slime I met on the road."

Lumine held up her right arm, and Famas did his best to smile at Amber.

"Hmm, it's a Pyro Slime, but it doesn't have the aura of a monster. It's a very strange Slime."

Amber poked at Famas's face with her finger.

"Hey, don't just touch someone's body like that, Outrider!"

Just as Amber's finger was about to make contact, Famas couldn't hold back and spoke up to stop her.

"Ahhh!!! The Slime can talk!"

Amber jumped back in shock, quickly retracting her hand.

"Huh? Is it really that strange for a Slime to talk?"

Lumine looked at the startled Amber, whose reaction was almost identical to Paimon's when they first met Famas.

"Well, it's definitely rare. I've never seen one before… Anyway, you're all travelers, right?"

"Recently, there's been a dragon spotted around Mondstadt. It's best if you head into the city as soon as possible. Since we're not far from Mondstadt, I'll escort you there as a knight."

After a brief conversation, Amber returned to her cheerful self. After confirming that the group posed no threat, she decided to escort them into Mondstadt.
