Genshin Impact: I'm a Slime

Chapter 7: Chapter 7

"Is that Mondstadt over there?"

Lumine gazed at the distant city, where a gentle breeze carried white dandelion seeds through the air.

It was beautiful.

If not for the dark rain clouds gathering in the sky and the occasional howling winds outside the city, this unique beauty of Mondstadt would be hard to put into words. Perhaps it could be described as the beauty of freedom?

Famas thought of Natlan, where its people had once built tents and stone huts in the desert. Those were considered the most luxurious structures, second only to Famas's own war altars.

"Let's hurry up."

Paimon wasn't admiring Mondstadt's beauty; she was only interested in its food.

Scenery could be enjoyed anytime, but indulging in delicious food couldn't wait.

"Got it."

Mondstadt wasn't far now, and the outline of its main gate was clearly visible to the four of them.

Following Amber across the bridge leading to Mondstadt's gates, the group arrived at the city entrance.

Two knights stood by the gate, silently observing the people coming and going, ready to spot anything unusual and nip potential trouble in the bud.

"Tsk, these two remind me of the Northwind Knights from back in the day!"

Famas lowered his head, looking at the two gatekeepers. He suddenly remembered Varka, the Grand Master of the Northwind Knights, who had almost single-handedly established the coffee trade route from Mondstadt to Sumeru.

"Wait here for a moment. I'll go talk to them."

Amber walked over to the two knights and exchanged a few words before turning back and waving at the group.

Lumine, Paimon, and Famas then approached the city gates.

Famas curiously observed his surroundings. According to the "plot," once Lumine entered Mondstadt and received the Wind Glider from Amber, Dvalin would appear and attack the city.

Having once been the God of Flame, Famas could vaguely sense a change in the wind around Mondstadt.

Was this a sign that Dvalin was approaching?

As they passed through the gates, Famas noticed the two gatekeepers giving him curious glances, though they quickly looked away.

Soon, he felt more and more eyes on him.

Famas didn't mind, though. He continued to take in everything about Mondstadt.

The Mondstadt before him was much livelier than he remembered.

Paimon was also looking around, but she was searching for Mondstadt's delicacies.

Lumine, carrying Famas, followed Amber as she shared stories about Mondstadt.

"Allow me to formally introduce you: the city of wind and dandelions, the city of freedom, protected by the Knights of Favonius. Welcome to Mondstadt!"

Amber led the way, while Paimon floated beside her, whispering to Famas, "Finally, no more camping in the wilderness!"

"But the people in the city… don't seem to be in high spirits."

Lumine noticed the worried expressions on the faces of Mondstadt's residents.

"That's because everyone's been troubled by the Stormterror incident lately. But as long as Jean is here, everything will be fine!"

Amber replied confidently.

"Jean?"

"Acting Grand Master of the Knights of Favonius—Jean, the guardian of Mondstadt. With her by our side, even a disaster like Stormterror can be overcome."

Amber smiled brightly, her cheerful demeanor a stark contrast to the gloomy weather, as if her smile alone could bring a ray of sunshine.

"By the way, before we head to the Knights of Favonius headquarters, I have a gift for you."

Amber's excitement suddenly spiked.

"You're going to love it, Lumine!"

"A gift?"

Lumine was slightly taken aback.

It must be the Wind Glider, Famas thought to himself. In his time, the only things that could soar through the skies were birds and gods. Now, even humans could fly?

"Does Paimon get one too?"

Hearing about the gift, Paimon's eyes lit up with excitement.

"Sorry about that."

Amber awkwardly touched the bow on her head. "Paimon, you won't need this gift."

"Huh? So I don't get one?"

Paimon's expression instantly turned disappointed.

Seeing this, Amber quickly added, "How about I treat you to some Mondstadt Hash Browns at Good Hunter after I finish my duties today?"

"Really?"

Paimon's disappointment vanished in an instant, replaced by sheer excitement.

"Then it's a deal!"

"Such a foodie," Famas thought, a strange smile forming on his face.

The group arrived at a large open square in front of the church. Ignoring the curious glances from passersby, Amber led Lumine to a corner of the square and magically produced a pair of wings from behind her back.

The Wind Glider, a specialty of Mondstadt.

"This is it. With this, you'll be able to fly freely through the skies."

Amber handed the Wind Glider to Lumine.

"Thank you, Amber."

Lumine smiled, taking the Wind Glider and following Amber's instructions to attach it to herself.

The Wind Glider wasn't an ordinary item. It could fold and hide away effortlessly, making it incredibly convenient.

"Come on, let's give it a try."

Amber took Lumine's hand and led her to a nearby high platform.

"Fly down from here."

Amber quickly mapped out a route for Lumine.

"Is this okay?"

Lumine looked down at the people walking along the streets below.

"Don't worry, it's fine."

Amber patted her chest reassuringly.

Famas's oval eyes studied the Wind Glider's design. With just a few glances, he roughly understood how this simple mechanism worked—using updrafts to glide.

If there was one way to fly faster, Famas's answer would be the right weight.

Looking at Amber's slender waist and well-proportioned figure, perhaps that was why she was Mondstadt's flying champion!

"Jean's hips, Mondstadt's soul!"

"Jean's waist, Mondstadt's blade!"

Shaking off his wandering thoughts, Famas concluded that Jean's figure was indeed the best.

"Famas? Famas?"

Lumine's voice snapped Famas out of his thoughts.

"Huh? What's up?"

"Whatever you're thinking, it doesn't seem very proper."

Hearing the Slime's mischievous chuckle, Lumine sighed helplessly.

"I'm going to fly now, okay?"

Lumine announced to the group.

"Go ahead. I'll protect you."

Famas, still wrapped around Lumine's arm, formed two small, fleshy protrusions that resembled tiny arms, waving them to reassure her.

"Wow, Famas, you're so cute!" Amber exclaimed from behind.
