Hunter X Hunter: I Got Stronger After I Died

Chapter 98: Is This Really Possible?

That bastard—why is he here?!

This was an airship, after all.

Kurt was certain that before the auction began, Moro was still in Yorknew.

But this airship had taken off early in the morning!

Could it be…?!

Kurt's thoughts were in complete chaos, his usual composure nowhere to be found.

Yet in his mind, yesterday's alley fight replayed itself—the tracking Nen bullet, Moro chasing after him while standing on that bullet, and the star-shaped mark he found on his body while showering last night.

Finally, he reached what he believed was the most impossible conclusion.

That bastard flew here… standing on a Nen bullet!

He had flown out of the Saheerta Federation, all the way across the ocean to this airship hovering over the open sea.

Is that even possible?!

Even Grandpa Zeno couldn't do that, right?!

But that was the only explanation for what was happening before his eyes.

The more he thought about it, the more terrified he became.

Moro pushed open the window and jumped into the cabin, looking at the shaking Kurt with an odd expression.

"You suddenly called my name just now, so I figured you noticed me. Did I… scare you?"

"!!!"

Kurt snapped out of his daze, his pupils trembling violently as he blurted out:

"HOW did you get here?!"

"Flew here." Moro replied casually.

As expected—!!!

Kurt felt like a tsunami had crashed into his mind.

That means… if I don't get rid of this Star Mark, this bastard can find me anytime?!

Worse still—what if another tracking Nen bullet comes flying at me from out of nowhere?!

And it wasn't just a short distance—this was halfway across the Yorbian continent!

What a terrifying ability…

Then suddenly, another more pressing thought hit Kurt.

Forgetting about the Star Mark for now, he nervously asked:

"When did you get here?!"

Moro rubbed his chin, thinking for a moment.

"About twenty minutes ago."

"So you saw everything?!"

Kurt felt his strength drain from his body.

Moro nodded.

"Yep, I saw it all."

Earlier, he had watched Kurt's aura fluctuate wildly before stabilizing at an impressive speed. He had been curious if this was a Zoldyck family meditation technique, but decided not to pry.

After all, Shingen-Ryu training also placed great emphasis on meditation.

Kurt had no idea what Moro was thinking.

At that moment, an overwhelming sense of shame swallowed him whole.

He collapsed to the floor, utterly defeated.

The secret he most wanted to keep… had been seen by this bastard.

His eyes dimmed as if life had lost all meaning.

If I knew this would happen, I should have killed him yesterday!

Moro, watching Kurt's reaction, sighed inwardly.

The Zoldyck family's hellish training really was terrifying.

Just having someone see a meditation technique was treated like a top-secret catastrophe.

"Don't be like that. I can keep it a secret."

"Then go die!"

"That's a bit extreme. I only saw part of it."

"Part of it… or not, IT DOESN'T MATTER!"

Kurt forced himself to suppress his shame, but only one thought remained in his mind.

Only the dead can keep secrets!

But then, remembering his strength gap with Moro, despair washed over him again.

He slumped even further into the wall.

Moro sighed again.

No wonder the Zoldycks had remained at the top of the assassination world.

Changing the topic, Moro suddenly asked:

"The person who hired you to kill me… was it Nolan Gambino?"

Kurt glanced at Moro, then looked away, resting his forehead against the wall like a prisoner awaiting execution.

Seeing this, Moro shook his head and continued:

"I did my research. You're an assassin from the Zoldyck family. But what I'm really curious about is—what happens when a Zoldyck fails a job?"

"I DIDN'T FAIL!"

Hearing his family's name and the word 'failure', Kurt suddenly snapped back to life, shouting furiously.

Moro raised an eyebrow.

Kurt glared at him.

"My mission was to FIND you. That mission was completed yesterday!"

"Oh?"

Moro was surprised.

"Then why did you attack me?"

"That's because… hmph. No comment."

Of course, Kurt would never admit that he thought he could kill Moro and earn more money.

"Fine, don't answer." Moro didn't care. Instead, he got to the real reason he was here.

"I didn't expect the Zoldycks to take tracking jobs. So… do you have a Nen ability for finding people?"

Kurt remained silent.

"No answer? I'll take that as a yes."

Moro smiled.

"Since your previous job is complete, that means you have no more ties to your old client, right?"

Kurt narrowed his eyes.

"What are you getting at?"

Now regaining his usual composure, he frowned at Moro.

"I want to hire you to find someone. A proper contract. You name the price. And in return… I promise to keep my mouth shut about what I saw earlier."

Hearing this, Kurt gritted his teeth.

"It's not about the secret… IT'S ABOUT THE FACT THAT YOU SAW IT!"

But business was business. He forced himself to focus.

"One billion."

Kurt took a deep breath and named his price without hesitation.

Damn, that's expensive.

That was Moro's first thought.

But finding Nolan Gambino was worth far more than a single billion.

"Deal."

Moro agreed without much hesitation.

"Who's the target?"

Now back in business mode, Kurt looked like a different person, his previous despair completely gone.

"Nolan Gambino."

Moro smiled.

Kurt's eyes widened slightly.

"What's wrong? Can't do it?" Moro raised an eyebrow.

"Hmph."

Kurt snorted coldly, ignoring the provocation.

Instead, his tone turned icy.

"Half upfront. Five hundred million."

"Fine."

Moro took out his phone to transfer the money but then paused, a thought crossing his mind.

"If I add an assassination request on top of the tracking job, how much would it cost?"

"Depends on who you want dead."

Kurt's voice was calm and professional.

Moro smirked.

"Kill every mafia member around Nolan Gambino. Or just kill Nolan himself."

Kurt responded immediately, his tone formulaic.

"If you only want Nolan dead, the price is 3 billion. That's assuming you cancel the tracking job."

Moro's eyes glinted.

"Deal."

Luckily, he had made billions at the Yorknew Auction.

Though… he was spending money way too fast.

Still, thinking about how rich those auction-goers were, he figured 30 billion wasn't a big deal.

For most Nen-users, though, making this much was nearly impossible.

"One last thing."

Moro smiled.

"If your family has no objections, can you help me impersonate a Zoldyck assassin?"

Kurt froze.

Then he sighed.

"Fine."
