Isekai Journey Of The Magic Archer

Chapter 1062 In the name of a fu***** trial

[Eon's POV: ]

Though we ultimately dealt with all the other snakes over the next few hours, the Naga fought against us repeatedly.

-Clank! Clank! Clank!

[6 Hours into the fight…]

The Naga had defeated both of us three times already, though we were able to deal with one of the (Purple) ranks.

'Rein somehow managed to distract the snake while she was fighting the Naga and I took the opportunity to cast a powerful offensive spell and took down the snake with a fire and wind elemental combination spell of (tier-7).'

Casting the spell put a toll on my body, but thanks to Clover, I was able to maintain my calm and recover some of my stamina.

It was still difficult though.

[12 Hours into the battle…]

The Naga had stopped using his hands and directly attacking us and instead, he used his weapons only.

'The twin Khopesh swords moved by themselves with the strange lightning sparks of deep green present around them.'

The sparks and the lightning itself was a result of a (World authority), a power given by Nature to those who have risen above mortal limitations.

However, the way he was controlling the swords was not part of his authority.

It was a technique so complicated that even Lucy had trouble understanding how he was doing it.

'However, we finally managed to figure out how he was channelling his unique energy throughout his body and then creating a unique link between him and the swords that worked as strings.'

He had to use the strings consciously to move the swords the way he wanted which was pretty close to telekinesis, however, different from the telekinesis where one needed to use mental strength, this technique allowed him to control his sword just like he could do it with his limbs without any restrictions.

In fact, he could do things that were not possible with this technique and use sword skills that simply were not easy to replicate.

[21 Hours into the battle…]

He had already defeated us a dozen times and by now, all the other snakes were dealt with.

He was giving us a little time to recuperate and think of other ideas, but he was not stopping.

'Every time we got a little better, he would charge at us again and then he would fight us the same way he had been doing the last few hours.'

We had not realised just how strong this bastard was at the start, but after the first defeat, we knew just how difficult it would be to win against him.

[{ "He's just fucking with us in the name of a fucking trial! I bet he just wants to have fun beating us up!" }]

Until now, Rein had used her Origin skill three times already and every time she used it, she got drained out.

She still had to fight and Closer could not help us continuously so, even though she could still go on thanks to her enhanced stats and buffs, she needed to rest as well.

'We had already been using ZONE to land as many hits on him as we possibly could.'

But that was not working either and ultimately, it was draining us instead.

[30 Hours into the battle…]

The fights were now becoming monotonous.

We had tried most of the things we could but the result was ultimately the same every time.

Even if we landed a powerful hit on him, even if we were able to cut off one of his limbs, even if we somehow gave him fatal injuries, we could not defeat him.

'His regeneration powers were absurd.'

He was able to regenerate his severed limbs effortlessly.

Every time he was hurt badly, there was a new pleased smirk present on his face.

He was also not simply fighting us and instead was savouring the experience as if rejuvenating his lost sense of battles.

'Each time he was fighting us, he was using some new kind of technique or method.'

We noticed it late but the flying weapons were just the start.

He used complex energy techniques more complex than my Mana arrow, he used weapon techniques more complex than Rein's (Death cut).

He was already much stronger physically, but he even had Origin energy that he revealed much later. Something that even we could not detect at first.

And, he used his world Authority along with that energy to create various fusion techniques that were simply beyond what either of us had seen until now.

[45 Hours into the battle…]

He defeated us for the 81st time by creating a static discharge that exploded without creating any flame or sound.

It was simply a very strong shockwave that moved fast enough to have been unperceivable to us.

It was so strong that it knocked us back into the walls once more, and…

"Ugh!"

Though the walls were regenerating continuously every time it got destroyed, we could see the cracks that had been formed by the previously destroyed walls… which had now covered the entirety of the walls all around us.

"Fuck… this shit…"

We were tired.

We were hungry.

We were thirsty.

And there was no strength left in our bodies anymore.

There was no Mana left either.

Each fibre of our muscles were already torn apart. Our eyes were now blue and our faces were covered in rubble and dried blood.

There were scars and scratches all over our bodies. The clothes that we were previously wearing had all been torn down, and had it not been for the Mana clothes that could regenerate with some energy, we would also have been fighting naked.

But, having these special clothes added a layer of defence on our bodies, so we were glad that we had these.

'Though… they were also on the verge of breaking apart.'

The creature, the Naga warrior…

"This… this is not it… haaa… Rein…"

The snake with green eyes said that we had to finish some kind of a trial.

He did not specify what we had to do but it was obvious that we had to fight.

The Naga had been saying something about using our Legacies or something, but we had no idea how we were supposed to do that.

In the first place…

"We are missing… something…"

We did not even understand how exactly we had to use our legacies.

"There… there's…" I could not even breathe properly anymore.

Rein was in a worse state than me since she was under more physical pressure while I was mentally exhausted after casting all those high tier magic spells without having even close to enough Mana to cast them all.

"There's something… that… haaa… we're… we're missing…"

Our clothes and Asta were not the only artifact I was using right now. "

Both of us were using all kinds of artifacts to boost our strengths.

From magic scrolls to enchanted things. From artifacts of high level to things that we could only use a few times.

'She had already used her Witchcraft to her limit. The same with her Origin Release'

I could use some of my Origin skills a few times but I did not know how to Release my Origin skill yet, and even if I knew it, I don't think it would help with the little strength I have left in my body.

"Legacies…"

There was still a pleased grin in the eyes of the Naga who was watching us from a distance while licking the edge of his blade.

He was happy, ready and waiting for us to recover so that he could jump us once again. He did not mind fighting us even though we were doing something wrong here.

He was having fun, and it seemed like he wanted to keep going with this fun…

But, I know we could not go on like this anymore.

"Think… there's something… what, are we missing?"

Her eyes and my Lucy.

Perhaps, it was more about the Stigma for me instead of Lucy since the creature mentioned the bird of rebirth instead of any of the master's specific names.

He also clarified that he was not related to her or had anything to do with us, so it is more about the Stigma that I received from her as well as the Authorities that she shared with me through the stigma.

'But…'

I have never used it.

And even though Rein has been using her eyes since earlier, it does not seem like that is what the creature, or the Naga wants from us.

So then…

"What do they… want from us?"

Using brute force wasn't going to work anymore.

We were not here to fight that creature or defeat something that was practically immortal.

What we needed to do was something else. Showing them the legacies… perhaps using some kind of technique that we have not done yet was the answer.

Perhaps, we are thinking about it wrong…

[{ "Alright. Time's up~." }]

The Naga creature dashed at us with a new smirk a few moments later, and, though we were in no state to fight still, we had no choice but to get up and move if we wanted to avoid any other lethal injuries.

The Naga was already putting in a conscious effort to avoid hurting us too much, fighting us with a handicap already.

And yet…

[39 Hours into the battle…]

We could still not defeat the Damned thing!

[{ "Hahaha~. How pathetic, oh Children of Divine~." }]

My mind was on the verge of shattering.

[{ "How foolish could you human mortals even be~?" }]

Rein's body was twitching all over. Every fibre of her being had been shattered already, and no potion or healing spell was working on her.

[{ "All you have to do is use what you already have~. How complicated do you want to make this~? How can you be so dense~?" }]

Use what we already have…

'Yeah jerk. It's easy to say…'

But if we don't even know what it is that we have, how are we supposed to-.

[{ "Eon…" }]

As if a sudden thought had crossed her mind, a new light appeared in Rein's fading eyes as she looked at me.

[{ "I think I get it." }]

All of a sudden, she had a new light in her eyes. Literally…

[{ "I think I know what they want…" }]

Her Pink eyes were glowing intensely.

It was the first time I had seen that kind of light in her eyes.

In fact, this was the first time that…

[{ *Oh my…* }]

I had even seen her eyes in that state.
