Let Me Go, Mr Carson

Chapter 4: Chapter four

Damon stood in his study, trying to catch his breath... his entire body was beyond tensed up, and he ran his hand through its hair and tugged on it a bit... he had let his anger get the better of him, and now the way she looked at him kept on replaying in his head over and over again... Damon wasn't sure anymore who he was really angry at... was he angry at her, or was he angry with her father for destroying his family... He had been so mad to see because of whom she was related to... He had planned to have a civilised talk with her, but when she asked him if he was one of her father's debtors. He lost it... yes, he was... Nicholas, her father, owed him his life for what he had done, but now he was dead... how could he exert revenge on him if he was dead... it only made him more furious, and he groaned out in anger as he stared at his hand that had been around her neck... Damon slowly started to feel guilty slipping into him... he closed his eyes and took a deep breath to calm himself... "I have to find out where it is first," He muttered under his breath and walked over to where a bottle of whiskey was... Damon poured himself a glass and drank all the contents in one go... he did the same multiple times and didn't even care that someone had walked into his office and was standing right behind him... "Do you have to do this, sir?" The older man who had opened the door when Lana was brought to the house asked... Damon poured himself another glass and tugged it all down before he dropped the glass harshly on the table and turned to look at the man standing behind him with a worried look etched on his face... "What do you advise I do then John?" Damon asked his old bulter that had been with him all his life and knew exactly what had happened to him... The butler looked really worried about what was happening in the house, and he was even more worried about Damon... he didn't want Damon to be consumed by anger and revenge... it wasn't a great path to take .. it was a part that could ruin someone completely, and that wasn't what he wanted to him...

"She isn't to blame for her father's wrongdoings..." John said to Damon, and this made Damon scoff... "Then am I to blame... I watched everything fall apart, John... I watched, and I couldn't do a single thing to stop it, but he was let off easily after betraying my father... my father trusted him so much..." Damon said and ran his hand through his dark brown hair that looked even more dishevelled than before... "I know, Damon.. Nicholas broke your father's trust. but she didn't..." John said, Damon froze...the guilt he had been feeling before multiplied, and he let out a deep sigh... "I need to be alone," He said in a low voice, and John respected his wishes and left him alone... Damon walked over to his chair and took his seat... his heart was still racing in anger, and his entire being felt like he was trapped in a loop that he couldn't seem to find a way out of... it was draining because a part of him knew he would never be free from this... how could he be free from this when she was in his house... how could he be when he had just tried to kill her and now he was filled with guilt for what he had done... Damon doubted it and he knew it...

Damon reached down to his table and picked up one of the many pictures there was on his table... it was a picture of her... all the pictures on his table were pictures of her... pictures that were sent to him... it had been happening for the past month... dozens of pictures that entailed her everyday life kept getting sent to his house and office... Also, a document containing how she had been living and everything she had been up to after her father died was sent to him, like whoever this strange person was that kept sending it wanted him to look for her... Damon had tried to find the mysterious sender, but it had been to no avail no matter how hard he tried... And it led to a time that he anticipated what he was going to be sent next... he was curious to know what she had been doing... But he only got more angrier each time he saw how she had been living... he was expecting her to be living a happy life so he could get angry at her that she was doing fine while he lived every single day in resentment, but it was the opposite... she was doing anything but fine... her life had been hard the entire time... Nicholas had passed away and left her with so many debts, and his debtors had been nothing but cruel to her... she wasn't happy like he had presumed, and it made him angry to know that...

"I found her. What next?" Damon muttered... The sender had sent him a letter about a document that he had to find, and she might just be the key to finding it... Damon was curious to know what this document entailed... Did Nicholas have more embezzled funds that he kept hidden away? He wouldn't be surprised if that was true... but if he did and his daughter knew where it was, then why had she been living this way...

Damon sighed deeply as he sat in his study... he had so many questions that needed answers, and he wanted to find those answers no matter what. Even if it meant the daughter of the man he hated the most was the key to those answers...
