Chapter 6: Ch 6: Meeting Yang Kai
Wang Feng looked at Yang Kai for a few second, thinking about something, before he sighed and shook his head, "There's still some time."
With that Wang Feng turned around and walked back to his cabin. On the other hand, Yang Kai raised his head to look around with a confused look.
'did I feel it wrong? ... No someone was observing me before..*sigh* why am I being so paranoid, No one will pay attention to a useless Trial Desciple haha'. Yang Kai thought with a resigned sigh before he focused back on his task.
Wang Feng soon reached his cabin and sat down to focus on one of the basic techniques he had made during his enlightenment. The technique he was thinking about was the meridian opening technique, a Sub-technique of the Basic Body Tempering Technique.
———————————————————
[Basic Meridian Opening Technique]
[Description: This technique is a Sub-Technique of Basic Body Tempering Technique.
This technique consists of 81 stances and these 81 stances are divided into 9 different sets, each set containing 9 stances. Each set of stance is for opening one of the 9 main meridians in a human body.
The technique allows the martial artist to put strain on specific places throughout their body, which forces open the naturally close meridian of a human body.]

Wang Feng looked at the description in front of his eyes with complicated expressions. "Forces open? ..*shudder* this is gonna hurt like hell." As he had prior knowledge about meridians from his previous life novels and through learning in this world.
He knew that anything related to messing with meridians can be painful, especially in the early stages, as the martial artist are new to these stuff at the beginning.
After taking a deep breath, Wang Feng stood up and started to practice the technique's stances. As he made the first stance and held it for a few seconds. But didn't feel anything, so he moved onto the next one, which also didn't effect him much.
So he moved onto the next stances, "hmm, Looks like I was worried for nothing.", but as he reached the 6th stance, he felt a slight strain on the lower side of his arm, from his armpits to his little fingers. 'Finally felt something, I was afraid that it wouldn't work.' But the strain was too low, so Wang Feng ignored it and continued on.
When he reached the 8th stances, he started to feel an itch inside the same area. Ignoring the itch, Wang Feng completed the 9th stance after a minute.
But Wang Feng didn't stop there and repeated the same set of stances. He couldn't advance to the next set till his first meridian is opened.
He continued to practice for over 2 hours, the strain he had felt in the beginning increasing with each change in his stance. The strain then turned into throbbing pain into 1 and a half hour of his practice, causing his to have difficulty even moving his arms, where the pain was concentrated.
"*Huff* *Huff* ... Man *Huff* ... Who knew *Huff*... Agh*Wincing*... Practicing just some basic *Huff* stances would cause such pain.", Wang Feng spoke to himself as he collapsed on the ground, wincing at the throbbing he felt in his arms.
He then sat down in lotus position to meditate, trying to ignore the pain that would heal given a little more than an hour. It took him a few minutes to fully immerse himself in his meditation, entering a deep of state meditation.
His sense of time seemed to have been suppressed as he continued to meditate for a few hours straight.
Wang Feng slowly opened his eyes and exhaled a long breath. His eyes caught site of the outside. "It's already dusk? How long was I meditating for?", Wang Feng thought incredibly.
'.... is this one of the benefits of that enlightenment?... It should be as I don't remember ever meditating for so long this naturally.', a light went off in Wang Feng's mind after thinking about it for a moment, bringing a small smile on his face.
"Ahhnnn .... Well, now that I have rested, I should practice one more time before hitting the bed.", after stretching his body a bit, Wang Feng started to practice his meridian opening technique again, lasting 2 hours again, before he collapsed on his bed.
Today, he wanted to practice his technique to witness it's normal effect. Tomorrow, he will truly start to grind to advance quickly. With that thought of determination, Wang Feng fell into the dream land.
The next day, Wang Feng woke up and thought to himself while having breakfast, 'Although I wanted to wait for some more time, I would be best to come into contact with Yang Kai.'
after taking care of his morning rituals, Wang Feng went outside. His goal for today? Meet Yang Kai and practice.
Wang Feng walked across the sect ground, seeing a few disciples around, as it was quite late into the morning, many disciples were roaming around the sect grounds.
Wang Feng navigated through the grounds and reached a secluded area near the back forest of the sect. As he reached there, he saw a roughly made small wooden house.
'So that's the iconic house huh. Looks more shabby than in the manhua.', Wang Feng thought as he looked at the house. Shaking his head Wang Feng went ahead and stood in front of the door of the house.
After thinking about it for an awkward minute, Wang Feng chuckled wearily before turning around, "hehe, what was I even thinking. I haven't even interacted with him even once and suddenly showing up outside his house, intending to have a conversation with him to heal his body. *Ughh* *Haah*".
Just as he was leaving, he heard a creaking sound of a door opening from behind. He subconsciously looked back and saw Yang Kai coming outside his house.
As Yang Kai stepped outside, his gaze landed on Wang Feng and he looked at Wang Feng with a surprised expression, obviously taken aback by seeing someone a few steps away from his house.
That surprise soon changed into vigilance as he looked at Wang Feng with narrowed eyes, 'Who is this guy? And why does it look like he's going back from my house's direction.' and asked, "who are you? What are you doing in this area?"
Wang Feng inwardly sighed, but otherwise maintained a normal expression on his face. Seeing Yang Kai's weary and guarded look, Wang Feng just revealed a small smile and said with a chuckle, "No need to be so serious man. I was just looking for a separate place to partice and came here, *awkward chuckle* hehe, but I didn't knew there was someone living here."
Upon hearing Wang Feng's words and observing his expression for a moment, Yang Kai lowered his guarded look, just a bit. Yang Kai couldn't find any flaw with Wang Feng's words either as situation like these were kind of common in sects.
'Well, at least he looks decent and doesn't seem to hold any ill intentions.', with that thought Yang Kai dropped most of his guard, but he was still prepared for anything.
Wang Feng could tell from the subtle changes in Yang Kai's posture that he had eased up slightly, but still not completely relaxed. Which was completely fine as he was just a stranger to Yang Kai so it was normal to have your guard up just in case.
Wang Feng still held the same smile and spoke while cupping his hands, "Greeting, my name is Wang Feng, can I know how to address fellow brother?"
Yang Kai returned the gesture with his own and answered, "my name is Yang Kai, I have been living here for more than a month ago."
Hearing Yang Kai's words, Wang Feng suddenly 'understood' and asked, "are you by any chance the Trial Desciple, Yang Kai?".
Yang Kai inwardly chuckled wearily, already having a feeling of how this conversation would follow through, he still answered positively, but what happened next shocked him a great deal.
Instead of showing a disdainful expression or any change in attitude whatsoever, Wang Feng nodded before inquiring about his situation and how it is to life here with just simple curiosity.
Although surprised, Yang Kai started to answer his questions. Perhaps it was because of how Wang Feng didn't treat him different after learning about his position, Yang Kai didn't mind answering Wang Feng's questions, that is when they are within some limits.
Slowly, the two started to ease up and talked for some time. Yang Kai also found out a bit about Wang Feng. How he had joined the sect a few months ago, how his current cultivation was 3rd Stage Tempering Body Realm.
Suddenly, Wang Feng asked him, "hey, Brother Yang. How about we have a sparing match.". Yang Kai blinked, inwardly sighing, '*haah* he's the same. Thinking of me as an easy target and wanting to reap benefits.'
Yang Kai's previously lowered guard rose up a little again as he answered, "I'll have to disappoint Brother Wang as I have already challenged someone yesterday."
It was now Wang Feng's turn to blink his eyes in confusion. But he soon understood what Yang Kai was talking about, his words seems to be misinterpreted by Yang Kai a bit.
So Wang Feng waved his hand back and forth while saying, "you seem to have gotten something wrong, Brother Yang. What I meant is, how about we have an unofficial fight with each other as a form of practice."
"Huh?", Yang Kai's voice sounded as he looked at Wang Feng with a dumb expression, clearly not expecting what Wang Feng had said.
".. So what do you say?", Wang Feng asked with anticipation, wanting to observe Yang Kai's fighting style. Absolutely not to fulfill one of his dreams of fighting with the legendary Void God, even if he was the Void God yet, absolutely not.
"... Alright.", Yang Kai muttered a few seconds later.
