Chapter 65: AFO & OFA
'Ello. As promised.

As Izuku Midoriya stepped into the small, dimly lit office, All Might stood by the window, his broad silhouette outlined against the fading afternoon sun. The atmosphere was heavy—he could feel it in the air.
"Young Midoriya," All Might said, his voice unusually solemn. "Lock the door."
Izuku blinked but quickly obeyed, twisting the lock with a quiet click.
All Might turned, offering a rare look of guilt. "Before anything else... I owe you an apology."
Izuku's brows furrowed in confusion. "For what?"
"For not being there during the Hosu Incident," All Might admitted, his jaw tightening. "You and your classmates were in danger. I should have been by your side."
Izuku's eyes widened before he shook his head, flustered. "All Might, you don't have to apologize for that!" He clenched his fists. "You trust us to grow as heroes, right? Besides, thanks to the training you gave me, I was able to help stop Stain."
All Might studied him for a moment before exhaling. "Even so… I can't shake the feeling that I failed you."
A beat of silence passed before All Might took a deep breath and looked at Izuku seriously.
"Young Midoriya... You remember how One For All is transferred, yes?"
Izuku tilted his head slightly. "Yeah… through ingestion of DNA."
All Might nodded, his expression unreadable. "And you also remember that during the fight… Stain licked your blood?"
Izuku's entire body stiffened.
His mind immediately raced to the worst possible conclusion.
"W-Wait!" Izuku stammered, panic flooding his voice. His hands gripped his sleeves tightly. "You… you don't mean—does Stain have One For All now?!"
His breath quickened. No… that can't be possible… right?
All Might raised a hand, quickly calming him down. "No. One For All isn't gone, is it?"
Izuku blinked, his breathing still uneven, but he focused—he could still feel the embers of power coursing through his body. One For All was still there.
"I still have it…" he murmured, a wave of relief washing over him.
All Might nodded. "Exactly. Because One For All can't be forcibly stolen. The power only transfers if the user wishes for it to be passed on."
Izuku let out a shaky breath, his shoulders sagging slightly. "That scared me for a second..."
All Might offered a small, reassuring smile before his expression turned serious once more. "Young Midoriya… there's something else. Something about One For All that I need to tell you. Something that no one outside of its inheritors knows."
Izuku straightened, eyes locked onto his mentor.
"One For All... is not just any Quirk," All Might began. "It has a history. A purpose. And it all began with the rise of the world's greatest evil."
The Origin of One For All
All Might turned back toward the window, staring out at the sky as if looking into the past itself.
"Long ago, during the dawn of the Quirk phenomenon, society was thrown into chaos. Humans weren't ready for the sudden emergence of supernatural abilities, and civilization was on the brink of collapse. It was an age of upheaval."
Izuku listened intently, his heart pounding.
"And in that era… there was a man. A man with a power unlike any other—one that allowed him to steal Quirks and grant them to others. His name… was All For One."
Izuku inhaled sharply. "All For One…"
All Might gave a grave nod. "Using his ability, he stole countless Quirks, amassing overwhelming power and influence. With that power, he unified the lawless and the desperate, gathering them as his pawns. It wasn't long before he took over Japan and ruled it as its dark king."
Izuku's hands clenched into fists. "I've… heard rumors about that time. But nothing like this is in any history textbook."
All Might turned to face him, his eyes sharp. "That's because history is written by the victors, Young Midoriya. And underground dealings? They rarely make it into textbooks."
Izuku swallowed. "So… how does this connect to One For All?"
All Might's expression darkened.
"All For One's ability to steal and distribute Quirks wasn't perfect. Many recipients of stolen Quirks couldn't handle the strain. Some… were reduced to mindless husks—like the Nomu you've fought before."
Izuku shuddered. The Nomu—those grotesque, barely human creatures engineered for combat—were a product of All For One's twisted experiments.
All Might continued. "But there were also rare cases where the gifted Quirks mutated… or merged."
Taking a slow breath, All Might finally revealed the truth.
"All For One had a younger brother."
Izuku blinked. "A brother?"
"Yes. Unlike his older brother, this man was born Quirkless. Frail, weak, and utterly powerless in a world where strength was everything."
Izuku felt a strange pang in his chest—a connection. A parallel.
"...Until All For One decided to forcibly grant him a Quirk."
Izuku tensed.
"That Quirk allowed him to stockpile power over time. However, what All For One didn't know was that his younger brother wasn't truly Quirkless."
Izuku's breath hitched.
"He already had a Quirk. A Quirk that allowed him to transfer his power to another."
Izuku's eyes widened in realization.
"That's...!"
All Might nodded. "Yes. That stockpiling Quirk and the power-transferring Quirk merged together… and became what we now know as One For All."
The Burden of One For All
"Justice," All Might murmured, "was born from the depths of evil."
Izuku swallowed hard, letting the weight of that statement settle.
After a moment, he whispered, "But… that man—All For One's younger brother—he couldn't have defeated him, right?"
All Might gave a slow nod. "Correct. He fought… but he was too weak. So, he passed One For All to another. Then another. Each successor carried on his will, hoping that one day, One For All would grow strong enough to finally defeat All For One."
All Might straightened. "That battle continued for generations—until it reached me. I was finally the one who defeated him… or so I thought."
Izuku's blood ran cold.
All Might's voice dropped to a near whisper. "All For One survived. He has returned. And he is leading the League of Villains."
A heavy silence filled the room.
Izuku clenched his fists, his heart hammering in his chest.
"So… One For All exists to stop All For One."
All Might nodded. "And one day, Young Midoriya… you will have to confront him."
Izuku took a deep breath. His body shook, not with fear, but with determination. "Whatever you ask of me, All Might… I'll do it. No matter what."
All Might's throat tightened.
For a moment, he wanted to tell Izuku the truth. That he wouldn't be there when the time came. That his next battle with All For One might be his last.
But seeing Izuku's resolve, he couldn't bring himself to say it.
Instead, he forced a smile and placed a hand on Izuku's shoulder.
"Thank you… Young Midoriya."
