My Young Husband, The Assasin

Chapter 23: Unexpected Encounter

Several pairs of eyes, especially those of the young girls sitting together at the bus stop, secretly stole glances, and many of them shyly yet longingly gazed at the handsome young man with raven hair.

How could these girls not be captivated and fall for the young man near them? His porcelain-like fair skin, perfectly straight nose, sharp jawline, eyes as dark as night, tall and sturdy build, and jet-black hair all complemented his flawless handsomeness.

The young man, Renji Ishikawa, effortlessly drew everyone's attention. For Aira, this was nothing new or unusual. However, a sense of annoyance and jealousy always lingered in her heart whenever these girls flirted with her husband. Their similar age made Aira occasionally fear that Renji might one day be tempted.

"Achoo~" Aira sneezed loudly, startling the people nearby, especially Renji, who immediately turned to her with concern.

A clear fluid dripped from Aira's nose after the sneeze. Without hesitation or disgust, Renji wiped her nose using his handkerchief, a gesture that made some onlookers envious, wishing they could be treated the same way.

"You should have worn a scarf to keep your neck warm," Renji said, still wiping Aira's nose like a mother caring for her child.

"Should we just go home?" Renji looked worried that Aira might be sick or even catch a cold due to sneezing earlier.

"I'm fine, Renji-kun, don't overdo it. Earlier, I was just exposed to dust, so I sneezed." Aira explained that she hoped Renji would not worry too much.

"Are you sure?" asked Renji, who was still worried."Yes," Aira replied confidently.

The girls secretly glanced with envy and curiosity, wondering who Aira was and what her relationship was with the handsome young man they called Renji. The bus they had been waiting for finally arrived after nearly ten minutes at the stop.

"Let's go," Aira said, pulling Renji's hand to stand up.

As the bus doors opened, Aira quickly boarded, with Renji following closely behind. "Be careful when climbing up," Renji said anxiously, helping his pregnant wife up the bus steps.

The girls who had been waiting at the bus stop lined up to board, trailing behind Renji. As they entered, they followed the couple, watching them closely. Aira and Renji chose seats at the back of the bus.

Aira sat by the window to enjoy the view outside while Renji sat beside her, holding her hand tightly. This made the girls sitting behind them feel disappointed and sad.

However, seeing Aira's mature appearance compared to the young man, who looked much younger, they assumed the two couldn't be a couple. Maybe they're both brothers, siblings, or nephews with aunties.

So these cute girls can still get close to and get acquainted with Renji.

But such hope could not happen to see Renji's attitude, who put on a cold face, looking at them all coldly, making the girls' guts immediately shrink from fear; they not dare to approach because Renji's face is clearly seen if he doesn't want to be disturbed, let alone approached.

However, the young, sexy-looking girl next to Renji did not give up easily. She continued to look for a way and an opportunity to get closer to Renji, even going so far as to pretend to be asleep.

Suddenly, the girl's head ended up on Renji's left shoulder as if she were looking for support. The corners of her mouth lifted into a smile, feeling pleased because her trick had worked. Still, unfortunately, her happiness didn't last long as Renji immediately pushed her head away.

However, the girl placed her head back on Renji's shoulder, refusing to give up. Feeling frustrated, Renji grabbed Aira's hand and moved her to a different seat. The girl who had pretended to sleep fell sideways since there was no support, making her friends laugh in amusement.

"Huh! Bastard!" the girl muttered angrily, feeling humiliated. Her friends continued to laugh at her antics, even though that trick usually worked, but this time, it didn't at all.

"Hey, wait!" the young girl shouted, feeling embarrassed in front of her friends.

Aira reflexively turned around and looked at the girl in confusion. Just as Aira was about to ask, Renji had already turned his body, hiding his face in Aira's embrace. Renji's dark, cold eyes glared fiercely at the young girl, whose name he didn't even know and didn't care to find out.

The young girl's body froze in fear, trembling as she was met with Renji's deathly glare. Her courage faltered, and she immediately lowered her gaze, no longer daring to disturb Renji.

"Renji-kun, I'm suffocating," Aira said, tapping Renji's chest because it was hard to breathe.

"Sorry. Let's sit here, honey," Renji suggested, pulling Aira's hand to sit on one of the bus seats, which only had two seats.

"Who was that girl? Do you know her?" Aira asked curiously.

"No. She mistook me for someone else," Renji lied.

"Really?" Aira asked again.

"Yes," Renji assured her, hoping she wouldn't ask any more questions.

"Yawn~" Aira let out a small yawn. Aira's face looked drowsy as she suddenly felt sleepy.

"Are you sleepy?" Renji gently stroked his wife's chubby cheek.

"A little," Aira replied with sleepy eyes.

"Then sleep on my shoulder," Renji offered his shoulder to Aira.

"I don't want to. I'm embarrassed to be seen by people," Aira said, her cheeks turning red.

"Just sleep," Renji said as he gently pulled Aira's head to rest on his shoulder.

While Aira felt embarrassed to sleep on Renji's shoulder because she was afraid of being seen by others, even though they were husband and wife, the girl earlier had no shame at all, pretending to sleep and placing her head on Renji's shoulder.

"Don't forget, we're getting off at the next stop," Aira reminded him.

"Yes. Sleep, I'll keep an eye on you," Renji gently stroked his wife's chubby cheek.

This was Renji's first time on a bus. It wasn't about showing off or flaunting wealth, but since childhood, he had always been driven around in a private car. If he needed to go somewhere on his own, he would drive a car or a motorcycle. He had never used public transportation before.

This was Renji's first experience, but he found that travelling with Aira was always enjoyable. As Aira said, they both got off at the next stop because the mall they were heading to was nearby, and once again, those girls followed them off the bus as if they were trailing behind. However, Renji didn't suspect anything, thinking that they might be going to the mall as well, considering it was a holiday.

The streets were so crowded, filled with people passing by, a daily occurrence, not just on holidays. The streets in downtown Tokyo are always busy.

As they walked, Renji held Aira's hand tightly, afraid they might get separated, especially since they were in a public place. Today, Renji planned to take Aira to a movie after Keiko's unexpected arrival ruined their previous plan.

"What are we watching today, Renji-kun?" Aira asked enthusiastically.

"Tetsuya said there's a good movie playing this week."

"What's it called?" Aira was even more curious.

"If I'm not mistaken, it's 50 Shades of Grey, part three," Renji replied casually, unaware of the movie genre Tetsuya had recommended.

Aira immediately pouted upon hearing the title because, in the past, Saki had once shown her that film, which had many adult scenes. While the overall story was good, Aira felt it wasn't suitable for minors like Renji, even though he had learned how to make a child.

"Let's watch something else," Aira suggested, hoping Renji would agree.

"Alright."

Aira's face lit up with happiness as Renji agreed to her request. When they arrived at the cinema located on the top floor of the mall, the atmosphere was very lively, filled with young couples, and the line for tickets was quite long.

"It's so crowded!" Aira exclaimed as it had been a while since she had last gone to the movies.

"It's only natural because it's a holiday. What movie do you want to watch, my wife?" Renji asked before buying the tickets online.

Suddenly, Aira felt laziness overtake her. She no longer felt excited to watch a movie and wanted to go somewhere else since they were already at the mall.

"Can we skip the movie and go somewhere else?" Aira suddenly tugged at the edge of Renji's shirt.

"Where do you want to go?" Renji asked gently.

"I want to go to the baby shop to look at baby clothes," Aira replied, her eyes sparkling.

Renji's face immediately brightened with joy. "Then what are we waiting for?" Renji pulled Aira's hand out of the cinema, and the girls from earlier followed them. They had initially planned to buy tickets for the same movie Renji was watching.

Coincidentally, the mall they went to was a luxury shopping centre known for its many stores selling expensive and famous brands from around the world. The baby shop they entered was huge and spacious, offering a wide range of baby products, all very complete and expensive.

"Why the baby shop?!" murmured one of the girls, confused.

"Are you sure the handsome guy is going in here? Why not go to a clothing store instead?" she asked, curious.

"Yeah. Let's go in and follow them. I'm really curious about who that woman is because she keeps sticking with the handsome guy," she said eagerly, still not giving up and wanting to know about their relationship.

Renji purposely grabbed a trolley because he planned to buy many items from this store, purchasing whatever Aira chose for their baby.

Of course, other customers and employees in the store were also curious and drawn to them, especially seeing Renji's appearance, which made him look very young, like a teenager, while Aira looked like an adult woman, with her belly showing clearly that she was pregnant.

People exchanged glances and began whispering about the two of them, who seemed like a couple at first glance. Still, in their opinion, Renji was more suited to be called a younger brother rather than a husband.

Aira's bright and energetic face suddenly became downcast. She kept her head lowered, her eyes watery, because she overheard the gossiping mothers talking about her and her husband, who was indeed still very young.

"Honey, what happened?" Renji asked anxiously, especially when he saw Aira's eyes welling up. "Don't cry." He gently wiped both of her cheeks.

Aira slapped Renji's chest in frustration. "Speak in Japanese!" she scolded him while pouting her lips.

"Ah, now you're acting like my wife," Renji teased, making Aira smile.

He pulled her into his embrace to calm her down. "What made my beautiful wife so sad?" Renji murmured.

"The prices here are all so high," Aira answered, trying to change the subject.

Renji chuckled and playfully pinched Aira's nose. "If you want, I can buy everything in this baby shop for you."

"Don't joke around, Renji-kun."

Renji reached into his pocket, pulled out his wallet, and took out a black card that only a select few could possess. Renji, however, had one easily, and so did Tetsuya.

"Wear this card however you like."

Aira accepted Renji's card with confusion. "Is this how I can buy ramen at Nami?" asked Aira plainly, not knowing how terrible the card was on her hand.

"You can also buy the shop," Renji said with a chuckle.

"Really?!" Aira stared in amazement at the black card in her hand, like a child receiving a new toy.

People around them, who had been eavesdropping and watching quietly, were just as shocked as Aira. They never imagined a young man like Renji could have a card like that. The girls who had been following them, like stalkers, were also stunned. They did not expect the handsome guy to be so rich, which only made them want to get to know him, even dreaming of becoming his girlfriend.

The two continued shopping. The once-empty trolley was now full of toys and various baby supplies. Renji took another trolley to fill it again because they were heading to the baby clothes section. Aira's eyes immediately focused on the cute baby clothes displayed.

"Renji-kun, look at this!" Aira smiled widely, showing him her chosen item.

"It's nice. Do you like that one?" Renji asked.

"Yes, but it's only available in pink. What if our baby turns out to be a boy? How would it look?" Aira responded.

"Whatever the gender, the most important thing is that both of you are healthy and safe," Renji reassured her.

"That's not what I mean, Renji-kun! But it would look strange if a boy wears pink clothes," Aira said with a sigh.

"In that case, choose the blue one since it can be worn by either a boy or a girl," Renji suggested.

"But I like this design," Aira pouted, sounding spoiled.

Renji sighed deeply and took the baby clothes from Aira. "Wait here, don't go anywhere. I'll ask the store clerk to find this design in blue for you."

"Hmmm." Aira nodded obediently.

Renji went to find a store clerk to ask for the colour Aira wanted. Meanwhile, Aira went back to looking for other baby clothes for their baby. While she was busy checking out clothes from various expensive brands, someone approached Aira.

"Aira?!" A man called from behind.

Hearing her name, Aira turned around to see who was calling her. Her eyes widened in surprise as she looked at a handsome young man with eyes just like hers, but his long hair was brown.

"Raiden-Nii!" Aira exclaimed, shocked.
