My Young Husband, The Assasin

Chapter 24: My wife

"Raiden-Nii!" Aira exclaimed in surprise.

The young man called Raiden grinned at Aira. "Hello, cousin," he greeted. Aira's body reflexively stepped back, seeking safety, but unfortunately, she couldn't go anywhere.

"Finally, I found you, Aira," Raiden said as his hand tightly gripped Aira's wrist.

"Le-let me go!" Aira struggled as Raiden tried to take her out of the baby shop.

"Come home with me to the mansion now and fulfil your duty as a Bunke."

"No! I'm no longer part of that family."

"But your last name is still Hoshino."

"Not anymore because I'm married."

Raiden stopped in his tracks, but his hand still firmly held Aira's arm. "How dare you get married and live happily while Hinami has to bear the suffering of all your sins and your mother's."

"It's us who suffered, not Hinami!" Aira shouted, tears streaming down her face.

"If it weren't for that wretched woman and your existence in this world, Hinami wouldn't have to suffer losing her father and bearing the burden of being the Hoshino Heiress." Aira wanted to scream for help and wished Renji would come to save her from this evil man. And her prayer was answered as her white knight came to her rescue.

"Where do you think you're taking her, Raiden?" Renji hissed, gripping Raiden's arm tightly.

Seeing Renji before him, Raiden reflexively let go of Aira's hand and stepped back, seeking safety.

Renji pulled Aira into his embrace, his sharp, deadly gaze fixed on Raiden. If Aira weren't nearby and they weren't in a public place, Renji would have made sure Raiden's head was separated from his body, or a bullet pierced his skull. Renji wanted to finish him without mercy, especially after Raiden's rough treatment of Aira.

"Long time no see, Young Master Renji," Raiden greeted politely as if he had done nothing wrong in the past.

"Don't bother with pleasantries, Raiden Hoshino. Leave before I lose my patience," Renji said coldly.

"Your temper hasn't changed, I see. I was greeting my cousin and intended to take her home. So, could you let me take Aira?"

Aira's grip on Renji's clothes tightened, signalling to Renji how terrified she was of Raiden.

"Sorry, that's not possible," Renji refused coldly.

"But considering the relationship between me and Aira as cousins, I have no harm taking her home. Besides, what is your relationship with a lowly girl like her? Is she paid to accompany you?" Raiden asked, indirectly insulting Aira in front of Renji.

"Keep talking as much as you want, Raiden, before I tear your mouth apart with a knife for daring to insult my wife," Renji hissed coldly.

Raiden fell silent, shocked by Renji's declaration. He tried not to believe it, but seeing Renji's attitude toward Aira, which he had never shown to anyone else, made Raiden reluctantly accept the reality.

Initially, he had planned to marry Aira to Danzo to strengthen his fledgling underground business network. But who would have thought that Aira's fate would be so fortunate as to marry Renji Ishikawa, one of the underworld's most powerful and influential figures?

"I'll give you one last chance. Leave before I change my mind, and never dare to appear in front of my wife again if you value your life," Renji threatened seriously.

Without saying a word, Raiden immediately left the baby shop. He did not want to get further involved with Renji, especially since he had once betrayed him by selling all the information about Renji's company, which nearly led to its bankruptcy and falling into Danzo's hands.

After Raiden left, the atmosphere returned to calm, but Aira clung tightly to Renji, unwilling to let go.

"Anata... I'm scared," Aira sobbed, her body trembling with fear.

"Don't be afraid. I'm here to protect you," Renji whispered. The two were caught up in their embrace, not noticing the gawk of the store shoppers and the other mallgoers.

Raiden's sudden drop-by and harsh handling of Aira spoiled today's shopping, and now she is scared. It seemed Renji would have to order one of his subordinates to investigate the Hoshino family and Aira's relationship with them further.

Renji paid for all the items they had selected and placed in the trolley, then asked the store staff to deliver them to the address he provided. Shortly after, Fujita arrived to pick them up after being contacted. The day's plans were ruined, even though Renji had wanted to take Aira out for a walk, shopping, and dinner at his favourite upscale restaurant.

"Sob~" Aira's sobs were muffled in Renji's embrace.

"Don't cry anymore, honey. I'm here," Renji whispered into Aira's ear. Aira nodded slowly, complying with Renji's wishes.

Quietly, Fujita observed from the small mirror in front of him. "Did something happen, Young Master?" he asked curiously.

"Don't bring it up; it makes me angry," Renji replied with a cold expression.

"My apologies, Young Master," Fujita said regretfully.

"It's fine. Just focus on driving."

"Yes, Young Master."

After crying herself out, Aira finally fell asleep during the ride home. Renji continued to hold her tightly, not letting go. When they arrived at the basement of the luxurious apartment building Renji owned, seeing Aira's peaceful sleeping face made Renji reluctant to wake her, especially since she looked so exhausted.

Initially, Fujita offered to carry the young lady. Still, Renji stopped him, insisting on carrying Aira himself while Fujita followed behind, opening doors and assisting. Once his task was done, Renji instructed Fujita to go to Tetsuya's house to retrieve their shopping items, as the address Renji had given to the baby shop staff was Tetsuya's. Renji had guessed that Raiden would try to find out Aira's whereabouts.

Gently laying Aira on the bed, Renji removed her flat shoes one by one and covered her with a blanket up to her chest. He didn't leave the room immediately.

Instead, he sat on the edge of the bed, gazing at his wife's sleeping face. The tear stains on her chubby cheeks were visible, infuriating Renji. He wanted to make Raiden pay in the cruellest way possible.

"Renji-kun~" Aira called out as she opened her eyes.

"Yes, my wife. I'm here," Renji replied, gently stroking her forehead affectionately.

"Aren't you ashamed of marrying a lowly woman like me, the product of an extramarital affair?" Aira's eyes began to well up with tears.

"I'll tear apart the mouth of anyone who dares to insult you."

"But it's the truth. I'm the child of my father's illicit affair with a low-class servant in the Hoshino family. And I..." Aira began to cry again.

"Whoever you are and whatever your status, you are the woman I love and cherish the most. My beautiful wife and the mother of my children," Renji said with sincerity and honesty.

Tears immediately streamed down Aira's cheeks like a waterfall. Her hands reached for Renji's neck and hugged him tightly. "Thank you for accepting and loving someone like me."

Renji returned his wife's embrace. "I should be the one saying that not you."

Aira released her hug and looked deeply into Renji's face from up close. The two of them gazed into each other's eyes.

Renji's lips slowly moved forward, gently kissing Aira's lips. At first, Aira didn't react, but unexpectedly, she kissed him back, making Renji's playfulness grow wilder.

Renji laid Aira back down on the bed, their lips still locked together. His hands began to join in the fun, with his right hand moving up from her waist to gently squeeze her chest, causing a small moan to escape Aira's lips.

"Ah~"

Instantly, Renji stopped his actions, remembering that Aira was pregnant and they couldn't be intimate yet, as it might affect the baby's development.

"I-I'm sorry," Renji said regretfully, realizing he had lost control.

Aira's hand gently caressed Renji's cheek, and the corners of her lips curved into a smile. "From the pregnancy book I read, if my pregnancy is at this stage, we can actually..." Aira couldn't finish her sentence, her face turning bright red with embarrassment.

Renji smiled meaningfully and kissed his wife's forehead. "I'll do it slowly and gently."

Aira nodded softly, and Renji's lips were on hers again the next second.

Meanwhile, something unusual was happening at Tetsuya's apartment. It was so uncommon that even the usually indifferent neighbours around his luxurious apartment were now curious, stepping out of their rooms to get a closer look at the rare event. Tetsuya angrily yelled at some delivery guys wearing simple black pants, which revealed his chiselled abs.

Tetsuya's ire was not unfounded. A quarter of an hour ago, he peacefully slept in his sofa bed in the living room, dreaming of his sweetheart, Issei.

But in the middle of his bliss, the doorbell rang—not just once, but repeatedly—disrupting his dream and waking him up. His dark eyes opened wide reluctantly, and he sat up from his lying position, muttering curses in English. He wasn't trying to show off; Tetsuya was fluent in English, having lived in England from two years old until he graduated high school before returning to Japan for university.

The pressing issue now was who dared to disturb his precious sleep time. Whoever it was, they were about to face his wrath. Some say encountering a hungry wolf is terrifying, but that doesn't apply to Tetsuya.

For this pale-skinned young man with extraordinary talent in painting, it was better to endure hunger than sleepiness. So, anyone who dared to disturb his rest was waking a sleeping Godzilla.

Tetsuya, who is typically laid-back and indifferent, could only get angry when his sleep was disturbed. He even had a specific time every day for a nap because, according to him, napping has many benefits, such as relaxation, reducing fatigue, and improving mood.

Especially as a painter, he needed a good mood to generate fresh ideas for his work. Dragging his slippers with frustration, Tetsuya went to the front door to see who had arrived, ready to scold them severely. When he opened the door, he found several delivery personnel with a large box. They were there to deliver items, not just one item. There were many, all containing baby supplies, including a baby crib, all ordered by a customer.

"Good afternoon. We are from the delivery service, here to deliver your order from Baby Shop Angelic," one of the delivery staff members explained their purpose to Tetsuya.

"I never ordered anything from there," Tetsuya retorted.

"But all these items are under the name of Mr. Tetsuya Ishikawa."

"Are you sure the address is correct?" Tetsuya asked, trying to hold back his anger.

"Sir. We are delivering the items to the address provided, and it clearly states Mr Tetsuya Ishikawa," one of the delivery staff replied, showing a document as proof.

"This is indeed my address, and I am Tetsuya Ishikawa, but I never ordered or bought any of these items," Tetsuya groaned, explaining that he had just woken up, so there was no way he could have gone out and purchased all these things.

"We apologize, sir, but we are only following the procedures," one of the delivery staff said.

Tetsuya rubbed his temples, which were suddenly throbbing. "Oh my God!" he exclaimed in frustration.

Amid Tetsuya's confusion, Fujita, Renji's trusted assistant, arrived in the middle of the tense situation between Tetsuya and the delivery staff.

"Good afternoon, Young Master Tetsuya," Fujita greeted politely.

"Why are you here, Fujita? Don't ask me to do anything because I'm in a bad mood," Tetsuya said with an annoyed expression.

"I'm not here for that. May we speak inside, Young Master Tetsuya?"

"Come in," Tetsuya allowed Fujita to enter and sit in the living room.

The delivery staff had already brought all the items into the apartment. Tetsuya couldn't stop them because they had strong evidence that Tetsuya had supposedly ordered the items.

Tetsuya handed Fujita a cold can of soda. "What do you want to talk to me about?" Tetsuya asked, drinking a glass of cold water, feeling thirsty after his earlier outburst.

"I came here to pick up Renji-sama's belongings," Fujita said politely.

Tetsuya pursed his lips. "I already guessed these items belonged to that chicken butt," he grumbled in annoyance.

"Please don't be angry or think poorly of Renji-sama. He sent the items he bought to your apartment for a special reason."

"Then tell me what the reason is," Tetsuya pressed Fujita.

"As for that, you can ask Renji-sama directly later. I can't stay long because I have other tasks," Fujita replied kindly.

Tetsuya rolled his eyes, feeling irritated by Fujita's attitude and behaviour, which was just as annoying as Renji's. Perhaps after years of being Renji's assistant, Fujita had unconsciously absorbed Renji's bad traits. His cousin had a bad influence on others.

"Wait for my revenge, chicken-butt," Tetsuya thought with full resentment.
