Naruto: Transmigrated as Obito with the System

Chapter 193: Chapter 193: Obito’s “Mercy”

Inside Uchiha Madara's base.

A flamboyant young man suddenly appeared, laughing loudly.

"Hahaha! Grandpa Madara, I've brought you a gift!"

Madara, standing with his hands behind his back, turned around at the sound and laughed as well.

"Hahaha, Obito, you silly child."

"You didn't need to bring anything just to visit... so, where's the gift?"

Looking at Obito's empty hands, Madara's tone shifted as he raised an eyebrow.

Obito waved a hand dismissively, grinning.

"Don't be so hasty, Grandpa Madara. You'll love this one, trust me."

Activating Kamui, a red-haired man dressed in purple suddenly appeared before them.

Madara frowned slightly, a hint of doubt in his voice.

"And this is...?"

Black Zetsu chuckled from the side.

"Madara-sama, I believe this is the Four-Tails' jinchūriki—Rōshi."

"Oh?"

Madara's expression turned intrigued as he gazed at the unconscious Rōshi on the ground.

"Well, this is indeed quite the gift," he said with a smile that suggested deeper intent.

Obito smirked.

"As long as you like it, Grandpa Madara. I'll have a few more tailed beasts arriving soon. Once I've, uh, 'signed for' them, I'll bring them to you."

Though unfamiliar with the term "signed for," Madara nodded in satisfaction.

"Obito, you truly are a good grandson. Hahaha!"

Hearing this, Obito scratched his head awkwardly, waving his hand in protest.

"Stop, stop, that's too much."

Having grown up in a chaotic environment, Obito couldn't help but feel Madara's words carried a hidden jab instead of praise.

"Grandpa Madara, there's something I'd like to discuss with you."

In a great mood, Madara clapped Obito on the shoulder.

"If there's something you want, just say the word. Grandpa will definitely fulfill it."

Obito nodded slightly, his expression turning serious.

"Grandpa Madara, I'd like you to spare this man's life after extracting the tailed beast."

"In fact, when handling other jinchūriki, I hope you can show some mercy as well."

After a tailed beast is extracted, the jinchūriki's life typically comes to an end. However, if a portion of the tailed beast's chakra is left behind during extraction, the jinchūriki's life can be spared.

Madara's brows furrowed slightly in displeasure.

"Obito, to accomplish great things, one must be both patient and ruthless. Compassion is a weakness!"

"Spare them today, and they'll only come back seeking revenge."

Obito responded with a calm smile.

"Grandpa Madara, achieving greatness also requires magnanimity."

"Even if the entire shinobi world becomes my enemy, what have I to fear?"

Before Madara could argue, Obito continued, his tone unwavering.

"Letting them live isn't about sentimentality. I simply find a few of them interesting and worth keeping around—nothing more."

"Their lives are insignificant to the grand plan, and whether they live or die is within our control. Showing a bit of 'mercy' costs us nothing."

"As for whether they'll be grateful or seek revenge later, I don't care at all."

Obito's words were resolute and firm.

Madara thought for a moment, then slowly nodded.

"Very well. Since you've made up your mind, Grandpa will grant your request."

As Obito had said, the lives of these individuals were inconsequential to the larger plan. If sparing them made his "grandson" more loyal, there was no harm in obliging.

Madara formed hand seals and summoned the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path.

"Let's begin the sealing process, Obito. I'll need your assistance with extracting the tailed beast."

Obito raised his chin slightly, smiling.

"Hahaha, no problem."

Under Madara's direction, the two used the Phantom Dragon Nine Consuming Seals technique to extract the Four-Tails from Rōshi.

Before sealing the beast completely, they drew out a portion of the tailed beast's chakra and returned it to Rōshi's body, stabilizing his condition.

With the process complete, the Demonic Statue's ominous eyes opened another notch.

Stretching lazily, Obito remarked,

"Grandpa Madara, I'll leave the Four-Tails jinchūriki here for now. Once we successfully summon the Ten-Tails, we can return all the jinchūriki to their respective places."

Madara nodded slightly.

"Very well."

He casually placed several seals on Rōshi and motioned to Black Zetsu.

"Take him away and find a room to secure him."

Black Zetsu bowed respectfully.

"Understood."

With everything settled, Obito prepared to leave.

"Grandpa Madara, I'll be heading back now to check on the progress of our members and see if they need my help."

Madara's smile deepened.

"Good. Grandpa looks forward to your good news."

Obito nodded, activating Kamui to leave, his Sharingan glowing red.

At that moment, he remained unaware of the turmoil unfolding in Konoha.

...

Konoha

Outside Konoha Hospital, Jiraiya stood frozen, mirroring Orochimaru's dumbfounded expression.

Just moments ago, Jiraiya had been preparing to assist the shinobi defending the village outskirts.

However, passing by the hospital, he had heard the sounds of intense combat.

His first thought was of his... future wife being in danger.

(Reader: Don't you mean your old partner?!)

Reassured by the presence of Minato and Hiruzen at the gates, he decided to head to the hospital instead.

To his shock, the combatants turned out to be Tsunade and Orochimaru!

"Orochimaru, what are you doing here?!"

Jiraiya couldn't stop himself from shouting.

Orochimaru ignored him, lost in his own spiraling thoughts.

His carefully planned infiltration mission had somehow devolved into... an impromptu reunion?

Seeing Jiraiya standing there dumbly, Tsunade snapped at him.

"Jiraiya, quit standing around! Help me take him down!"

"The chaos at the gate must be his doing!"

Snapping out of it, Jiraiya nodded vigorously.

"R-right! Got it, Tsunade!"

The two flanked Orochimaru, closing in from both sides.

Orochimaru's face darkened.

Fighting both his former teammates at once left him with slim chances of victory.

"Formation of Ten Thousand Snakes!"

Orochimaru's mouth unhinged at an unnatural angle, releasing a torrent of snakes.

The writhing mass of serpents, baring their venomous fangs, surged toward the pair like a tidal wave.

Jiraiya leapt in front of Tsunade, shielding her with his body.

"Needle Jizō!"

His white hair rapidly extended and hardened into needle-like spikes, forming an impenetrable cocoon around them—a perfect [Absolute Defense].

Hiss! Crack!

The snakes, unable to evade in time, collided with the spiky shield and vanished in puffs of smoke.
