Pokemon: Hundredfold Power Surge

Chapter 22: CHAPTER 21

021 Go To The Stadium! Sensational Evaluation

Su Leyan entered the classroom, her long purple dress flowing elegantly, exuding an aura of quiet confidence. Her presence commanded attention, and as she stepped forward with a faint but knowing smile, the room fell silent.

"Students, we will soon depart for the Jiang Cheng Gymnasium for the Six-School Joint Entrance Examination. Before that, let me explain the rules to you."

A murmur spread across the class as the students exchanged glances, their anticipation mixing with tension.

"The Pokémon world is not just a test of skill it is a battle of survival and talent. If you wish to become a trainer, you must prove your worth," Su Leyan stated firmly.

This examination wasn't just for show. It was a means to separate the truly capable from the hopefuls. Some students would be recognized as future trainers, while others would be redirected to different paths. When Su Leyan had first learned about this system, she had opposed it, but in the end, reality was cruel.

"In this joint entrance examination, only two classes 80 students out of the 600 in our school will qualify for trainer-level resources. The rest will be eliminated from this path."

A heavy silence filled the room. The reality of the challenge hit home 520 students would not make the cut.

Even Qin Yun, usually calm, narrowed his eyes slightly. The numbers were ruthless.

"Each class has, on average, only about five spots," Su Leyan continued. "The assessment will begin with Pokémon control. Judges will evaluate how well you command your Pokémon, and only those who meet the standard will proceed to the battle phase."

"The battles will be fought in a three-on-three format. Only those who perform exceptionally will advance."

The weight of these words settled over the students.

"The goal," she added, "is to push our class forward. I hope to see many of you succeed in entering the battle round."

Outside, the bus was already waiting at the school gate.

As the students boarded, some whispered among themselves.

"On average, only five per class? That means, for us, Qin Yun, Luo Qing, Serena, and Zhang Dong are almost guaranteed. The last spot will be a brutal fight."

"Forget that. What if no one else in our class passes?"

The murmurs died down as Luo Qing turned to Qin Yun with an unusual seriousness in his voice.

"Qin Yun, do you think we can really become good trainers?"

Qin Yun, usually uninterested in these conversations, paused when he saw Luo Qing's unsettled expression. Instead of dismissing him, he spoke calmly.

"Being a good trainer isn't about just saying it, it's about proving it through actions."

"But the competition is too fierce. I'm not even close to their level," Luo Qing admitted.

"You think being an excellent trainer is only about strength?"

"Of course. If you're not strong, how can you be a good trainer?"

Qin Yun didn't answer immediately. He simply held Luo Qing's gaze for three seconds before standing up.

"Let's go."

Arriving at Jiang Cheng Gymnasium

Jiang Cheng Gymnasium was massive, the largest building in the city. It was packed with students, all preparing for the biggest test of their lives.

Under their teacher's guidance, Qin Yun and the others registered their information. Then, they were led to testing areas rows of partitioned sections spread across the stadium, each designed for Pokémon control assessments.

When Qin Yun's turn arrived, Serena gave him a thumbs-up.

"Do your best!"

Qin Yun smirked. "You too."

Inside the testing area, an expressionless examiner scanned the QR code on Qin Yun's uniform. A mechanical voice confirmed his registration.

"Jiang Cheng Third Middle School, Qin Yun. Registered Pokémon: Kirlia."

The examiner raised an eyebrow.

"Kirlia? That's rare for a high school student. Good choice."

Qin Yun grinned. "She's awesome, isn't she?"

The examiner, caught off guard by Qin Yun's confidence, let out a small chuckle.

"Alright, summon her so I can evaluate."

"No problem."

Qin Yun tossed his Poké Ball.

"Come out, Kirlia!"

With a bright flash of light, Kirlia materialized, immediately floating toward Qin Yun, twirling happily before landing gracefully beside him. Her devotion was clear, and the examiner took note.

[Trainer-Pokémon Bond: A-Grade]

"What are her known moves?"

Qin Yun paused before answering.

"Voice of Enchantment, Growl, Double Team, and Teleport."

The examiner looked up, surprised. "That's quite the arsenal for this stage. Can you have her demonstrate?"

Qin Yun nodded.

"Kirlia, use Voice of Enchantment!"

"Chiru!"

A melodious, psychic-infused sound echoed through the space, its effects subtle yet unmistakably potent.

"Double Team!"

Kirlia flickered, five perfect copies forming around her, all maintaining their positions effortlessly for over ten seconds.

"Teleport!"

In an instant, Kirlia disappeared and reappeared three times in different spots, executing the move flawlessly within the confined area.

Finally, she let out a soft Growl, completing the sequence.

The examiner blinked in astonishment.

"That was... impressive. Her control is impeccable."

Without hesitation, he marked an S-Rank evaluation for Pokémon control an extremely rare grade.

"You've passed with flying colors," he declared.

Qin Yun gave a polite nod. "Thanks."

As he exited, the examiner quickly pulled out his communicator.

"Brother Wang, I just tested a high-potential student from Jiang Cheng Third Middle School."

The voice on the other end perked up. "Who?"

"Qin Yun."

A brief silence followed before Brother Wang's voice came back, sharper this time.

"Him?"

"You know him?"

"Of course. He's the one who rejected Norman last week."

"What? That was him?!"

The examiner's eyes widened. The story of a mere high school student turning down a prestigious invitation from Norman, a famous Pokémon trainer, had spread like wildfire. Many had ridiculed the decision, thinking the boy foolish for throwing away such an opportunity.

"And what rating did you give him?" Brother Wang asked.

"S-Rank."

"...Stay put. I'm coming over immediately."

Hearing the urgency in his voice, the examiner glanced back toward the exit, where Qin Yun was walking away casually, Kirlia following at his side.

He had a feeling that this student was about to turn Jiang Cheng's expectations upside down.
