"Pikachu, Pikachu!!"

Malaya hugged Pikachu tightly and began to rub its cheek.

Pikachu didn't resist but remained cautious, wary of accidentally hurting her by releasing electricity.

It had learned to control itself well over time, a skill honed from its experiences at the orphanage. The children there loved to hold and play with it, and Pikachu made sure not to harm them, even if it meant occasionally letting its electricity leak harmlessly.

Once, however, it had failed. A stray spark startled Isla, and Pikachu had been punished, emitting electricity uncontrollably for a long while after. That incident left a lingering fear in Pikachu—it couldn't let that happen again, especially not to this little girl.

Evan was nearby.

"Uncle... uh, Evan."

"Can I play with it?" Malaya asked, her eyes shining as she looked at Pikachu.

Evan raised an eyebrow at how she addressed him but replied patiently. "Call me Brother Evan, not uncle! From now on, all the Pokémon here can play with you. This is your new home. Do you understand?"

Malaya hesitated, then softly asked, "Then, can I still call Grandpa Dean?"

Evan nodded. "Of course. It's fine. From now on, you can call anyone anything that makes you feel comfortable. Don't worry."

Malaya's face lit up with happiness. "Thank you, Brother Evan!"

Evan smiled back. "Alright, you can play with them, but don't wander off, okay? If you need anything, come to me in the house or ask Gardevoir for help. It'll take care of you."

He gestured toward Gardevoir, who nodded in understanding. Gardevoir began communicating with Malaya.

When Malaya heard Gardevoir's telepathic voice in her mind, she gasped in amazement.

"Gardevoir, you can talk? That's so cool! How do you do it? Can you teach me?"

Evan chuckled, reassured by the sight of the two bonding. "Take good care of her, Gardevoir. Show her around, or take her to the store for snacks if she likes."

But Malaya interjected, her expression serious. "I shouldn't eat too many snacks; otherwise, I won't grow taller."

Evan laughed. "No need to worry about that here. If there's anything you want to eat, just ask. Brother Evan has plenty of Pokédollars, so don't hold back."

At his reassurance, Malaya hesitated briefly before swallowing nervously. "Really?"

Her innocent excitement made Evan laugh again. "Really. Just enjoy yourself!"

Snacks in this world were far from junk food; they were made from real ingredients, thanks to the advancements in Pokémon-world technology.

With Evan's approval, Malaya eagerly nodded. "Uh-huh!!"

Her joy left Evan feeling content as he returned to the breeding house to continue his work, confident that the Pokémon would care for Malaya and keep her safe.

Malaya was taken by Gardevoir to explore the breeding house, and by the afternoon, she was starting to feel more at home with her new surroundings.

Later, Aunt Jenn returned from her errands, bringing back a pile of new clothes for Malaya. Once she was back, Gardevoir entrusted Malaya to Aunt Jenn's care.

When the other children returned from school that afternoon, they were met with the sight of Malaya sitting in the store with Aunt Jenn and a few Pokémon.

Isla, one of the older children, was the first to notice. She paused for a moment, then exclaimed, "Aunt Jenn, is this our new sister?"

Without waiting for an answer, Isla ran up eagerly, her eyes shining as she studied Malaya. The other children quickly followed, surrounding Malaya with curious and friendly faces.

It wasn't unusual for new brothers or sisters to join the orphanage, and the children were well-accustomed to welcoming newcomers. Aunt Jenn and the late dean had always raised them to be kind and inclusive, so there was no hint of jealousy or hostility.

"Hello, sister! I'm Lily," one of the girls introduced herself warmly.

"And I'm Emily," added another girl, her sweet voice echoing her excitement.

But before Malaya could respond, a boy interjected with mock sternness, "Idiot, Emily! She's not your little sister! You're the youngest here, so you're still the little sister."

The children burst into laughter as another girl stepped forward. "I'm Luisa. You can call me Sister Luisa! I'm eight years old this year!"

"And I'm Tiger, your brother!"

"I'm Bexley," added another boy with a grin.

The warm enthusiasm of the children left Malaya overwhelmed but also touched. She wasn't used to such attention, and for a moment, she didn't know what to do.

Aunt Jenn, watching the scene unfold, couldn't help but smile. The children's spirited kindness filled her with pride.

"This is Malaya," Aunt Jenn said to the group. "She arrived this afternoon, and from now on, she'll be your sister. Remember to treat her kindly and make her feel at home. Understood?"

The children nodded eagerly, all speaking at once:

"Don't worry, we'll take good care of her!" "Come on, Malaya, I'll show you around!" Isla said, grabbing Malaya's hand and pulling her along.

Malaya was a little nervous with all the attention, but as the children showed her the orphanage and introduced her to every nook and cranny, she began to relax.

By the time dinner rolled around, Evan spotted the group clustered around Malaya, and he couldn't help but feel satisfied. The integration had gone perfectly, with no conflicts or awkwardness.

During dinner, Evan addressed Malaya about her schooling. "Malaya, tomorrow I'll take you to get your enrollment sorted out. You'll be going to school with Luisa and the others. Does that sound okay?"

Malaya nodded immediately. "Whatever Brother Evan says, I'll do!" she replied earnestly.

Her straightforward acceptance brought a smile to Evan's face. He turned to the other children. "When Malaya starts school, I expect all of you to look out for her. Make sure no one bullies her."

The children responded with confident nods. "Don't worry, Brother Evan!" Tiger said firmly.

Luisa spoke up, her voice full of enthusiasm. "Brother Evan, can you transfer Malaya into my class? We're the same age, so it makes sense!"

Evan considered her suggestion for a moment and then nodded. "That's a good idea. I'll talk to the principal tomorrow and arrange it."

Luisa beamed at Malaya. "See? We're going to be classmates now!"

Malaya smiled back shyly, grateful for her new family and the warmth they showed her.
