Water City is a sprawling coastal city neighboring Lake City.

Known for its vibrant size, it is home to the Alliance-certified Water Gym, making it a hub for trainers specializing in Water-type Pokémon. The proximity to the sea has also turned it into a haven for Water Pokémon, drawing trainers and tourists alike. Its appeal extends beyond its Pokémon, as the city is famed for its stunning resorts and untouched islands scattered across the outer sea—a perfect destination for relaxation and exploration. For trainers from the China, Water City is an essential stop on their journey.

At this moment, Evan was being shown around the city by Colton. The duo sampled the city's famous cuisine and enjoyed a leisurely afternoon of sightseeing. By the time the sun began its descent, painting the sky in warm hues, Colton led Evan to the city's most celebrated landmark: the Gold Coast.

As the sun dipped lower, the entire coastline shimmered as if bathed in golden light.

"See that?" Colton asked, gesturing towards the horizon. "Isn't it beautiful here? If you come in the morning, you'll really understand why this place is called the Gold Coast. Under the early sunlight, the entire beach looks like pure gold. Even the sand sparkles. It's breathtaking."

Walking along the scenic path, Evan glanced down at the beach and nodded in agreement.

"It really is stunning," he said, his gaze shifting momentarily to the swimmers enjoying the waters. "Especially the girl swimming down there."

Colton rolled his eyes at Evan's comment. "Seriously? I didn't expect you to be such a natural at this. Since when did you start noticing these things?"

"Alright, that's enough of your nonsense," Colton added, smirking. "Come on, I'll take you to wash your feet or something."

Evan twitched at Colton's playful teasing and waved him off. "Cut it out. I'm not interested in that. Anyway, I've been tagging along with you all day. Now it's time to get serious—I need to focus on capturing Pokémon."

"Go back. I'll be fine on my own from here."

Colton blinked in surprise at Evan's sudden shift in tone. "Wait, didn't you mention earlier that you were here to catch Water Pokémon? Need a hand? I can hook you up with a few. Honestly, if it weren't for those qualification rules, I could grab some for you in no time. My family even runs a business selling Pokémon eggs."

Pausing, Colton added with a sheepish grin, "Actually, I was planning to surprise you with a Pokémon egg later, but I didn't expect to run into you here today. You've got your own Pokémon already, though, so maybe it's not much of a surprise anymore."

Evan stared at him, clearly caught off guard. "You were going to give me a Pokémon egg?" he asked, disbelief etched on his face.

"What egg?" Evan asked, his tone dripping with sarcasm. "Squirtle, Totodile, Piplup, Oshawott, Froakie? Or maybe Suicune?Kyogre?" He laughed mockingly. "Why don't you just give me Arceus while you're at it? Palkia has water moves too, so throw that in the mix, huh?"

Colton glared, unimpressed by Evan's outburst. "Starters? Keep dreaming! I don't even have a Starter myself," he retorted. "As for Suicune and Kyogre? You must be kidding me. Go to bed. In your dreams, you can have all of them."

Colton rolled his eyes, clearly exasperated by the exchange. "those starter Pokémon—are controlled by the Alliance for a reason," he said, his voice laced with irritation. "Do you think they'd be easy to get? And Kyogre? Suicune? Right, because they're just lying around for anyone to pick up."

Colton was about to retort, but Evan waved him off. "Enough. I don't want your egg. I already have my Pokémon, and I don't need anything else."

The refusal wasn't because Evan didn't want an egg. He just wanted to stop Colton from wasting what was undoubtedly a small fortune on him. Pokémon eggs of good quality could easily cost hundreds of thousands, even if they weren't rare starters like the Squirtle. The thought of this reminded Evan of something. Colton's family sold Pokémon eggs, didn't they? That could be a useful connection.

"Actually," Evan began, a sly grin forming on his face, "can you help me get a batch of Pokémon eggs? I'll pay the regular price. I'm thinking about hatching them myself and putting them up for adoption."

Colton blinked, surprised at the sudden request. "You're serious?"

"Yeah," Evan nodded. "I'm thinking along the lines of Horsea, Marill, Lotad—something manageable, nothing too wild. Do you have anything like that? Water types are fine, but I'm open to others too. Let me know what's available, and I'll come by to check it out."

Colton stared at him, dumbfounded. "You're really going all in on this breeder path, huh? No more pursuing a career as a Trainer?"

Evan shrugged nonchalantly. "Not really. It's not that I don't want to, but right now, I prefer making money over spending it."

Colton frowned. "But your potential as a Trainer is insane! Why give that up? You're one of the best I've seen."

Evan sighed. "Sure, but I ran into this absurd player recently. Same age as us, just graduated, and they already have a championship-level Pokémon. How am I supposed to compete with that? And let's be real: China has over a billion people. There are bound to be more of these insane Trainers. I'd probably just waste my time and resources trying to keep up."

He continued, his tone practical. "The deeper you get into being a Trainer, the more money it eats up. Especially after opening my breeding house, I've seen the costs firsthand. A single strong Pokémon can cost 600,000 per month for food alone. Add training equipment and travel expenses, and it's just ridiculous."

Colton listened quietly as Evan finished his rant. "Being a Trainer is only for people who have a goldmine at home," Evan concluded. "And I don't. So, I'll stick to something I can actually afford."

Evan leaned back, his expression calm but resolute. "At least with breeding, I can focus on raising Pokémon in a controlled environment. It's less expensive, and I don't have to deal with injuries, competitions, or constant travel. It's smarter, and it works for me."

Colton could only sigh. Evan's logic made sense, but it still felt like a waste of raw talent.

Listening to what Evan said, Colton sighed in resignation.

"Fine! Since you've got everything planned out, I won't say anything more," he replied. "I'll send you my list of Pokémon eggs later. Check it out, let me know what you need, and I'll arrange it for you."

Evan nodded with a small smile. "Thanks. I'll leave now, though. Time to catch some Pokémon. I'll try to be back by midnight. If there's anything urgent, just message me online."

With that, Evan casually released his Pidgeot. The majestic bird Pokémon shimmered as it emerged, its feathers gleaming in an unmistakable flash of brilliance. Colton's jaw nearly hit the ground.

"Wait, WHAT?! A shiny Pidgeot?!" Colton shouted, completely stunned. "No wonder you don't want the Pokémon I'm offering! You've got a shiny Pidgeot?! Are you kidding me?!"

Evan chuckled, clearly enjoying Colton's reaction. "Lucky, huh? This one found me."

He grinned, radiating pride, while Colton stared in disbelief. "Unreal… No wonder you're turning me down. This guy could carry you anywhere."

The shiny Pidgeot turned its sharp gaze toward Colton, as if to size him up, before letting out a proud cry. Evan climbed onto its back, giving a small wave. "See you later, Colton."

As the shiny Pidgeot flapped its powerful wings and soared into the sky, Colton stood there, still dumbfounded. "Grass… This guy," he muttered, shaking his head. "Of course he doesn't need my eggs. Lucky doesn't even begin to describe it."
