"Pidg?" (What?)

Colton, who was suddenly met with disdain, didn't realize it at first. At that moment, he was intently watching Evan's flashy display, his eyes sparkling with admiration.

This, to him, was the epitome of a man's romance.

Evan's expression turned slightly awkward.

He knew all too well what Colton was implying.

The passers-by nearby had started to glance over, and Evan knew he couldn't linger there any longer.

Otherwise, he'd soon attract a full-on crowd.

With that in mind, Evan waved at Colton.

"Colton, I'm heading off."

After saying this, he climbed onto Pidgeot's back, signaling it to take flight and head overseas.

Pidgeot, understanding the cue, flapped its wings mightily, stirring up powerful gusts of wind in all directions before soaring into the sky.

Soon, they were gliding over the sea.

Watching Evan's departing figure, Colton smacked his lips several times before muttering to himself, "Looks like this guy doesn't need me worrying about him anymore."

"Ah, well."

"Time to head home."

With that, he shook his head and began walking away, deciding it was best not to dwell on it. Evan deserved this moment of happiness, even if it left Colton feeling a bit melancholic.

Meanwhile, Evan, oblivious to Colton's musings, had Pidgeot land on an uninhabited island after a mere ten minutes of flight.

The sun hadn't set completely yet, casting a warm glow over the small island. It was no more than a few thousand square meters, abundant with fruit trees.

Flying-type Pokémon like Pidgey and Pelipper thrived here.

As they landed on the beach, Pidgeot fidgeted excitedly, its eyes darting towards the island's forest.

Evan noticed and rolled his eyes playfully.

"Go on, then."

"I'll call you when it's time to head back."

"Here's some food first, though. You must be starving."

With that, Evan pulled a box of energy cubes from his backpack and set it down.

Pidgeot eagerly dug in, eating with gusto.

At the same time, Evan released the rest of his Pokémon from their Poké Balls.

After being confined for nearly a day, they stretched and looked around curiously, thrilled to be free.

The sight of the beach instantly excited them, though their attention quickly shifted to the food Evan laid out.

"Eat up first," Evan said with a grin.

"Then we'll try to catch some Water-type Pokémon."

"Pikachu, I'll need your help with some electrofishing."

"Pika!" Pikachu chirped enthusiastically, nodding before hastily gobbling up its share of energy cubes.

Seeing Pikachu's eagerness, Gardevoir, Charmander, and Lurantis followed suit, finishing their meals quickly.

Evan figured they might be needed next as well.

Once Pidgeot had eaten its fill, it bolted straight into the woods. Soon after, the forest erupted with the cries of startled Pidgey and the flapping of Pelipper wings.

Clearly, Pidgeot's unannounced arrival had disrupted the island's usual tranquility.

Evan glanced at the time. It was already past five o'clock, and dusk was fast approaching.

Realizing it would soon be dark, he decided to stay on the island for the night and return home in the morning.

Though he hadn't planned on spending the night here and hadn't brought a tent or any camping gear, he figured it would be manageable for just one night.

With that in mind, he quickly set about making preparations.

He called for Charmander to light a fire, its tail flame illuminating the growing shadows on the beach.

After creating a simple campsite near the shore, Evan got busy gathering resources.

He also handed a few Poké Balls to Gardevoir, explaining his plan.

"Here's the deal," Evan began. "Wander around the island, and if you find a suitable Pokémon, have Pikachu and Charmander battle it. Once it's weakened, capture it, and we'll take it back to the breeding house."

"I'll be here fishing, and Lurantis will stay to help me."

Gardevoir nodded in understanding, her eyes bright with determination.

"Got it!" she replied.

Evan grinned, giving her a thumbs up. "I'm counting on you, Gardevoir!"

At his encouragement, Gardevoir blushed lightly but quickly turned to gather Pikachu and Charmander. With the two following her, she began exploring the island in search of potential Pokémon to capture.

True to her nature, Gardevoir was very selective in her choices. She wasn't willing to catch just any Pokémon. Only those she deemed exceptional or worthwhile would make the cut.

Because of this, her pace was deliberate, moving slowly as she evaluated her options.

Evan, however, wasn't worried about her progress. He was busy preparing bait for his fishing efforts.

Lurantis stayed quietly by his side, watching his movements with interest. Occasionally, she traced circles in the sand with her small feet, her demeanor calm and endearing, like that of a shy but curious friend.

Once the bait was ready, Evan gestured to Lurantis.

"Come on, let's head over there," he said, pointing to a rocky outcrop nearby. "There's a platform there that's perfect for fishing."

Lurantis chirped in agreement, "Lu-ra!"

She followed Evan obediently to the spot.

When they reached the reef, Evan had Lurantis sit nearby while he spread the bait he'd prepared across the water's surface. He also tossed a few energy cubes into the sea as an extra lure.

Lurantis perched beside him, her eyes sparkling with curiosity, ready to see what this night of fishing would bring.

After setting everything up, Evan cast his fishing line into the sea, letting the bait sink into the water.

Now, it was a matter of waiting.

"Lura?"

Lurantis, sitting beside him, tilted her head curiously. "Will any Pokémon really take the bait?"

Evan raised a finger to his lips, gesturing for silence.

"Shh," he whispered. "Don't make any noise, or you'll scare the fish away. Just watch and wait, Lurantis."

Lurantis's wide eyes filled with uncertainty, but she nodded, shifting her focus to the bobber floating on the surface of the water. Her curiosity was almost tangible, her gaze fixed with intensity.

Would they really catch a Pokémon?

The suspense was almost too much for her.

Just as her mind was swirling with questions, the bobber twitched.

Evan's eyes lit up immediately.

"Got something!" he whispered excitedly.

With practiced hands, he reeled in the line, the rod bending under the resistance.

As the final rays of the setting sun painted the sea with gold and orange, the catch broke the surface. A Magikarp with its signature vacant stare flopped out of the water, glinting briefly in the fading light.

Evan's hopeful smile froze.

"Of course," he muttered, his voice flat. "Magikarp. Just my luck."

Even as he groaned, he grabbed a Poké Ball from his bag. With a flick of his wrist, he tossed it at the Magikarp.

Using Psychic, he ensured the Magikarp was subdued before it could even struggle, the energy gently knocking it out.

A small pop and a flash of light signaled the successful capture, followed by the telltale ding of the Poké Ball's confirmation.

Magikarp fainted with tears in its eyes, its last thoughts muddled with confusion. Why was this human so overwhelmingly strong?

Evan retrieved the Poké Ball with an expression of mild resignation.

"Well, it's not exactly what I was hoping for, but Magikarp's not useless. It'll do for the pond."

Setting the Poké Ball aside, he prepared to cast the line again.

Lurantis watched him silently, her curiosity undimmed.

With renewed focus, Evan cast his line back into the water, ready to see what his next catch would bring.
