The list sent by Colton contained a large number of Pokémon.
There were even quite a few rare ones.
But there were no starters.
As I mentioned before, many starter Pokémon are held by the Pokémon League. Obtaining large quantities of starter Pokémon eggs is nearly impossible.
Evan examined the list and began making his choices.
"Trapinch. I can get a few of these," he murmured. "I'll take five."
The Flygon that Trapinch evolves into is a solid choice, being part dragon-type. It's also very popular in the market. However, raising one to evolution requires a significant amount of resources, which ordinary trainers often can't afford.
After noting it down, Evan continued reviewing the list.
"Clefairy?" He paused for a moment. "Girls seem to really like this Pokémon. Let's take five."
"Slowpoke…" He hesitated. "Forget it. Before it evolves, most people probably wouldn't pick this."
"How about Golduck instead?" he considered.
Then he moved on. "Seel's eggs… Oh, Rookidee?"
"Huh? Houndour eggs?" His interest piqued. "I'll take five more."
Evan carefully went through the options until he finalized his choices.
That was it for now: Trapinch, Clefairy, Golduck, Seel, Rookidee, and Houndour. Six Pokémon species in total, five eggs each, totaling thirty eggs.
With his selections made, Evan contacted Colton and sent him the list.
Evan:
[Trapinch, Clefairy, Golduck, Seel, Rookidee, Houndour.]
[Five of each. Send them directly to the orphanage.]
[My breeding house is ready.]
[I'll transfer payment to you directly.]
Evan sent the payment: ¥9,000,000W. Each Pokémon egg cost ¥300,000W, making the batch nine million in total.
After completing the transaction, Evan was about to close the chat when Colton replied.
Colton:
[What the heck?]
[Are you really this loaded?]
[You just transferred the money right away?!]
Colton was shocked. He'd expected Evan to delay payment, perhaps discussing it further. In fact, he was ready to supply this batch of eggs as a favor, without charging immediately. Yet Evan had paid instantly.
Evan frowned at Colton's response. What did he mean by that? Was he doubting him?
Annoyed, Evan took out his phone, snapped a few screenshots of the transaction, and sent them over.
Evan:

(If you can't view the images, maybe it's time for a new phone.)
[See?]
[I'm not short on cash.]
[Just hurry up and deliver the eggs.]
[I need to prep the incubation room.]
[I want to see the Pokémon eggs this afternoon.]
Colton replied quickly:
Colton:
[Rich kid alert!!]
[Got it!]
[I'll have the eggs delivered before noon.]
[By the way, save me some lunch.]
[Oh, do you want Growlithe eggs?]
[I have a few from the police department.]
[They're surplus stock, nothing wrong with them genetically.]
Evan's eyes lit up at the last few messages. Growlithe? Of course he wanted them.
Surplus stock? That likely meant the eggs had been deemed unsuitable for police work, perhaps due to minor genetic variances. After all, Growlithes in the police force had to meet exceptionally high standards. Eggs that didn't pass the initial screening were typically sold off or rehomed. Those that passed were further trained and evaluated, with only the best making it to the front lines.
Now Colton was offering him some of these surplus Growlithe eggs. It was too good to pass up.
Without hesitation, Evan messaged back.
Evan:
[Send those along too.]
[I'll take as many as you can spare. Add it to the bill.]
Colton responded immediately.
Colton:
[OK.]
[Tell Aunt Jenn to prepare a big meal. I'm going to start loading the car.]
After sending the message, Colton stopped replying to Evan and got straight to work. He headed to his father and asked for the Growlithe Pokémon eggs.
Evan saw the message and couldn't help but smile.
"A big meal? No problem at all," he muttered to himself.
With that, Evan got up and headed out.
At the same time, Isla and the others were busy feeding Gardevoir and the rest of the Pokémon. When Evan saw her, he called out:
"Isla, go and tidy up the incubation room. A batch of Pokémon eggs will be delivered soon."
Without waiting for a reply, Evan walked off briskly.
Isla and the others blinked in surprise.
"Is he starting an incubation business now?" one of them wondered aloud.
Before they could say more, Evan was already gone. Lurantis, his loyal companion, followed close behind.
Evan made his way to the orphanage, where he found Aunt Jenn and some of the staff cleaning up. He quickly explained that Colton would be arriving and asked Aunt Jenn to prepare extra food for lunch.
Aunt Jenn looked surprised when she heard the name.
"Colton, huh? I know him well," she said with a smile. "I'll take care of the meal. You go handle your work."
The orphanage staff were all familiar with Colton. He had visited numerous times to help out and always brought treats for the children. The kids loved him and looked forward to his visits. Even the older ones like Bexley enjoyed playing games with him when he came by.
After ensuring everything was set with Aunt Jenn, Evan returned to the breeding house and began helping organize the equipment.
He turned on the machines, adjusted the temperature settings on the incubators, and ran some diagnostics to ensure everything was in working order.
These incubators were gifts from Violet, who had provided Evan with a complete set of breeding equipment. It saved him the trouble of having to buy anything additional.
As they worked, Isla couldn't hold back her curiosity.
"Brother Evan, are you planning to start a breeding business? Are you going to sell Pokémon?"
Evan nodded.
"That's right. I got a batch of Pokémon eggs from one of my classmates. They should arrive by noon. Once they hatch, we can even start facilitating adoptions."
Selling Pokémon eggs and fostering adoptions legally required a lot of procedures. The eggs Colton was sending over were already certified and had official identification codes. Once they hatched, they would need to be registered with Poké Balls. Any future adopters would also need to have their information logged into the system.
While some breeding houses were supplied with starter Pokémon from the Pokémon League, Evan wasn't quite at that level yet. If his breeding house ever became renowned enough to be entrusted with starter Pokémon, it would mean he had truly made a name for himself.
After some time, Evan, Isla, and the others finished inspecting the machines. Everything was running smoothly. Evan powered up the equipment and began preparations for the eggs' arrival.
As they finished, a voice called from outside.
"Senior Evan, are you in?"
Evan turned to see Sophia peeking through the doorway.
"Sophia," he greeted, momentarily surprised. "You're here."
Sophia smiled and stepped inside, glancing curiously around the room.
