Chapter 80: Hello Sun
Oscar raised an eyebrow, glancing at the group before focusing back on Sun. "You know, if you're trying to avoid getting caught, hiding behind a tree might not be the best idea."
Sun gave an awkward chuckle, scratching the back of his head. "Yeah, not exactly my finest moment. But hey, better than running right into them, right?" He looked around, his bright blue eyes scanning the group, his tail flicking behind him nervously. "So, uh, mind if I join you guys? I swear, I'm not causing any trouble."
Coco, who had been standing nearby, raised an eyebrow, glancing at Oscar. "I don't know... It feels like trouble's about to find you whether you want it or not."
Oscar sighed, looking at Sun for a moment. "Well, we can't just leave you out here to get caught. Plus, it's kind of a tradition for us to help out someone who's clearly in trouble. But if you cause any issues..."
Sun raised his hands defensively, smiling. "I promise, no trouble from me! Just need a place to lay low for a bit."
Ren, who had been watching the exchange, nodded. "We can offer you some food, but you owe us a good story in return." He motioned to the picnic spread out on the grass.
Sun grinned, relieved. "Deal! Thanks. And, uh, if anyone asks, I'm just… you know, doing some sightseeing."
The guards continued to patrol in the distance, unaware of Sun's presence as the group settled back into their picnic. However, Cardin, who had quietly distanced himself from the group, kept glancing over his shoulder, looking as if he knew something was off but choosing not to act on it.
Pyrrha, who had been chatting with Coco, noticed the newcomer and turned her attention to him. "So, Sun, huh? Nice to meet you," she said, giving him a friendly smile.
Sun waved, his tail swishing in excitement. "Nice to meet you too! Honestly, I didn't expect to meet so many people who aren't… well, you know, going to make things worse."
Oscar gave him a teasing grin. "In Beacon, you'd be surprised what we call 'normal.' Just don't make things explode, okay?"
Sun chuckled. "I'll try, no promises though."
They all settled down and began enjoying the rest of the picnic, with Sun fitting in surprisingly well, his quick wit and easygoing attitude helping him blend into the group despite the earlier tension. As they ate, Oscar couldn't shake the feeling that this new acquaintance might end up becoming more trouble than he'd like—but for now, they were enjoying the best day ever.
After a while.
Oscar looker at Sub as he spoken "so you are from Vacuo from Shade Academy and you were here for Vytal Festival that will happen in 6 month".
Crimson then spoke. "That does explain a lot of new faces, should thought seeing that we had this done in our first years right sis".
Coco looker as he spoke. "Don't get cocky just because your team won the whole Festival Last Year".
Oscar them looked at as he spoke. "So where is your Te-".
The them heard someone else voice, as there voice was heard from everyone. "There you are Sun".
Sun turned his head too see his Teammates, as he was looking at him unembarrassed again. "Hi Neptune".
Neptune, who was dressed in his usual casual attire, walked over with a grin on his face. He gave Sun a playful shove, a smirk tugging at the corners of his mouth. "You're hiding out here, huh? I thought you were trying to keep a low profile, not throw a party with these guys."
Sun gave him a sheepish grin, rubbing the back of his head. "You know me, Neptune. Can't stay away from good company for long."
As Neptune approached, his gaze swept across the group. He noticed the familiar faces of Team RWBY and JNPR and raised an eyebrow. "Well, looks like you're mixing with the big leagues. You must be in good hands, Sun."
Oscar smiled, offering a hand. "Oscar Pine, nice to meet you. It's good to have new faces around."
Neptune looked at Oscar and shook his hand firmly. "Neptune Vasilias. Pleasure."
Blake raised an eyebrow, glancing between Sun and Neptune. "So, you're part of the same team?"
Sun nodded, still grinning. "Yeah, Team SSSN. We've been together for a while now. Neptune's the calm one, but don't let that fool you—he's got some serious skills when he needs to."
Neptune chuckled, clearly not offended by Sun's teasing. "Yeah, I guess I do, but don't let him fool you either. Sun's the one who can get us out of nearly any situation with that monkey tail of his."
The group laughed a little, and Jaune, who had been quietly observing, spoke up. "So, you're all here for the Vytal Festival? I guess we should expect a lot of competition then."
Sun nodded, his grin widening. "You could say that. And hey, I'm looking forward to meeting all the new faces. Plus, it's always fun to see how much better the competition gets every year. I think you guys will do great, though." He gave a quick glance at Ruby and her team. "And it's gonna be interesting to see if you can handle the pressure this time around."
Ruby beamed, always ready for a challenge. "We're ready! We've been training hard, so we're going to bring it!"
Neptune leaned against a nearby tree, his posture relaxed. "We'll see who wins the Vytal Festival, but for now, how about we just enjoy the day? There's a cookout happening, and I heard the food here is pretty good."
Coco grinned, clearly excited. "Now that sounds like something I can get behind. Let's eat, then worry about the festival later. This is a day for fun, right?"
Oscar chuckled, glancing at Sun. "Seems like you've got some good friends there."
Sun nodded, looking back at Neptune and then the rest of the group. "Yeah, they're good people. I've got a feeling this festival is gonna be one to remember."
As the group moved toward the cookout, Oscar couldn't help but wonder what kind of surprises were in store for the upcoming months. With new allies, rivals, and challenges ahead, the Vytal Festival was only the beginning of something much larger. But for now, it was time to enjoy the moment with friends.
Neptune looked at all them, as they were hand Burger, as he ate. "So who is the best cook here".
Fox then spoke. "Either me Oscar".
Ruby spoke eating her food. "I have too say it is Oscar, I mean he is the one who cooks for Team ROWBY".
Sun blinker as he spoke. "Team ROWBY"
Oscar sighed as he exploded the situation. "Basically Beacon had uneven amounts of Students and do that one team had too be Team of 5 that being my team".
Neptune then spoke as he looked at Oscar. "Oh so the rumours of Beacon having a 5 man team was true after all, how will that even work in the festival".
Oscar chuckled at Neptune's question, taking a bite of his own burger before answering. "Honestly, it's a bit of a challenge, but we make it work. We're a strong team, and even though we're technically one member over the usual limit, we've got a solid balance of skills. Plus, we've had extra training to make sure we can handle being a team of five."
Ruby, always quick to defend her team, added, "Yeah! We've got Oscar as our secret weapon! He's basically our backup in everything, and we work really well together."
Blake, who had been quietly enjoying her meal, spoke up. "Being a team of five does give us some unique advantages, but it also means we have to be more efficient in how we train and coordinate. The Vytal Festival won't be an easy ride."
Yang leaned in with a grin, her eyes glinting with excitement. "I think we can handle whatever comes at us. And honestly, with Oscar in the mix, we'll definitely be a strong contender."
Oscar blushed a little, trying to downplay his importance in the group. "I wouldn't say I'm the main reason we're strong. It's all of us working together that makes the difference."
Sun tilted his head, looking at Oscar thoughtfully. "I get that, but you've got some serious skills, man. I can tell that you're going to be a major asset, and I'm sure your team's lucky to have you."
Coco, who had been listening in, gave a playful smirk. "I think you're being modest, Oscar. We've seen your skills firsthand. And if your cooking is anything to go by, you've got more hidden talents than you're letting on."
Oscar grinned, finally feeling a bit more at ease with the teasing. "Well, I do try to keep a few surprises up my sleeve."
Neptune chuckled, taking another bite of his burger. "Alright, alright. I get it. You've got the team of five, and Oscar's the secret weapon. I'm curious to see how all this plays out. I'm sure there's going to be some crazy matches in the Vytal Festival."
The conversation shifted to more casual topics as the group continued eating, but there was an underlying tension in the air. The Vytal Festival was approaching fast, and it was clear that everyone was preparing for what would undoubtedly be a challenging and competitive event. But for now, they were enjoying their time together, letting the worries of the future fade into the background, if only for a little while.
Sun then went too Jaune as he spoke quietly enough so that only Jaune can hear him. "So your friend with them right".
Jaune scratched the back of his head, as he spoke with the same volume. "Yeah".
Sun then looked at Blake as he spoke. "So the black hair girl".
Jaune looked at him as he spoke. "Yes, but Blake has a crush on Oscar".
Sun sighed as he spoke. "Damm it".
Neptune then spoke looking at him. "So what about the white hair girl".
Jaune sigehd as he explained again. "Weiss is also into Oscar, don't try it I have tryed".
Sun blinke as he spoke. "With what about the Blond and Red head".
Neptune Brain short circuit. "Um does he know".
Jaune then spoke Looking at him. "Maybe, we are not sure".
What they didn't know is that, thank too Oscar gamer system, it was not just straight, speed, Agility, Defines and many more stats get upgraded a side effect is his main 5 sense also get an upgrade every time he level's up, which includes his hearing, as he was not rh only thank too Blake, Velvet and Rose being Faunus they heard everything as well, but just stayed quiet.
Oscar, despite staying silent, couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at the conversation going on behind him. Thanks to his upgraded hearing, he had caught every word of the exchange between Jaune, Sun, and Neptune. It was clear they were discussing the dynamics of his relationships with the others, and while he wasn't one to eavesdrop intentionally, it was hard not to overhear when his senses were heightened.
Blake, Velvet, and Rose, who had also picked up on the conversation, exchanged knowing glances. They had all been silently observing, understanding the situation but choosing not to intervene. It wasn't their place to reveal too much, and honestly, they enjoyed the confusion the boys were experiencing.
Jaune, still feeling a bit embarrassed about the whole situation, scratched his head again. "I'm telling you, I've tried talking to them about it. They're just... not getting it. Oscar's got this charm, I guess."
Sun chuckled, clearly entertained. "Yeah, I can see that. He's got that mysterious vibe, doesn't he? But, come on, is it really all that bad? You're all friends, right?"
Jaune sighed, looking out at the group. "Yeah, but it's complicated. It's not just about friendship anymore, at least for some of us. And I don't want to make things awkward with Oscar, either."
Neptune, who had been quiet for a while, finally spoke up. "Well, looks like things are getting a little... tangled up in that group. But, hey, as long as Oscar doesn't mind, right?"
Jaune glanced back at the others, still unaware that Oscar could hear everything. "I don't think he'd mind, but I'm not sure how he'd react if everything suddenly came out in the open."
Oscar, trying to keep a neutral face while pretending not to be too affected, leaned back against the tree, giving a casual thumbs up to the group. He wasn't sure whether to laugh, sigh, or simply continue pretending that he hadn't heard a word.
At that moment, Blake decided to break the silence, addressing Sun and Jaune directly. "Just so you know, Oscar's probably the most oblivious one in the group when it comes to these kinds of things."
Sun blinked in surprise, looking at Blake. "Really? Him? He's the oblivious one?"
Blake nodded. "Yep. But that's Oscar for you—he's more focused on his work and keeping everyone safe than on... all this other stuff."
Oscar, now thoroughly amused by the whole conversation, decided to speak up. "Is there something you all want to tell me? Because I feel like I'm missing something important here."
Jaune, Sun, and Neptune froze. Jaune gulped, realizing that the conversation they'd been having wasn't as private as they thought. Meanwhile, Blake gave a sly smile, enjoying the chaos she'd just unleashed.
Oscar, still smiling, looked around at the group. "Alright, alright, no need to act all guilty. I'm just messing with you guys." He shrugged casually. "But if any of you want to talk, you know where to find me."
Everyone relaxed, realizing that Oscar had been more aware than they thought, but it still didn't change the fact that things were definitely more complicated than they appeared. The air was still thick with tension, but the playful teasing was enough to ease things over for the time being.
As the picnic continued, everyone tried to keep things light, but the knowledge that Oscar's abilities extended far beyond what they realized was something they would likely think about in the future. For now, though, they had a cookout to finish, and the Vytal Festival was still looming on the horizon.
After a while as everyone was taking, as they were walking back too there dorm room, as Blake and Oscar was behind the group.
Blake looked at him as she spoke. "So did you knew".
Oscar looked as he spoke. "That you, Ruby, Yang and Weiss have a crush on me, it tooke me a while but um I figured it out, I even figured out 4 have a competition to see who I will pick as my girlfriend".
Blake looked as she spoke. "So you are dense bro stupid after all, so quick question if you had too pick who will you pick".
Oscar then said the first that came too his mind. "The four of you". Oscar then covered his mouth, he was so happy this was not conver for him Blake. "....".
Blake raised an eyebrow at Oscar's response, a small smirk forming on her face. She had expected him to be a little clueless, but that answer? It was both surprising and... kind of typical of him.
"The four of us, huh?" Blake asked, her voice laced with amusement. "That's quite the answer, Oscar. Are you saying you're planning to date all four of us at once?"
Oscar froze, realizing what he had just said. He could feel the heat rise to his face as he stammered, trying to recover. "I-I didn't mean it like that! I just... I mean... I didn't think about it like that at all!"
Blake chuckled softly at his flustered state, clearly enjoying his discomfort. "It's okay, Oscar. I'm just messing with you." She placed a hand on his shoulder, giving him a reassuring smile. "But seriously, you should probably think things through a bit more. You're not exactly being subtle about the fact that you're clueless when it comes to romance."
Oscar sighed in relief, though he was still a little embarrassed. "Yeah, I guess I need to work on that. I don't know how to handle this kind of situation, Blake."
Blake's expression softened slightly. "It's not easy, I get it. But maybe it's time to stop being so oblivious. You can't keep dodging the question forever. You might hurt someone's feelings if you keep avoiding it."
Oscar nodded, understanding the weight of her words. "You're right. I'll think about it, I promise. I just... don't want to make things awkward with anyone."
Blake gave him a thoughtful look, her tail flicking slightly behind her. "Just take your time, Oscar. Things don't have to be rushed, but you also can't keep ignoring the situation. You have a lot of people who care about you, and that's something worth considering."
Oscar nodded again, appreciating Blake's advice. He wasn't sure how to navigate this complicated web of emotions, but he trusted that he would figure it out eventually. For now, though, he was grateful that Blake was being understanding and patient with him.
As they walked back toward the dorms, the rest of the group was ahead, chatting and laughing. Oscar felt a sense of calm settle over him, knowing that even if he didn't have all the answers yet, he had friends who would be there to support him.
Blake, noticing the thoughtful expression on Oscar's face, gave him a small smile. "You'll figure it out. I know you will."
Oscar looked at her, giving her a grateful smile in return. "Thanks, Blake. I appreciate it."
And with that, they continued walking back to the dorms, the weight of the conversation still lingering in the air, but both of them feeling a little more at ease with the complicated situation ahead.
Blake then looked at him as he spoke. "Also Velvet has a crush on you as well".
Oscar looked at her with a deadpan face as he spoke. "Yeah I know that as well, at least it is only you 5".
Blake raised an eyebrow as she spoke. "What about your stalker Penny".
He then looked at him as he spoke. "She more of Stalker of the white mask... Which is my Vigilantly Identity huh".
Blake looked as she spoke. "That is just you in a mask".
Oscar sighed, rubbing the back of his neck as he tried to explain further. "Yeah, I know, I know. It's just—Penny's got this... obsession with the White Mask, which, as you pointed out, is me. She thinks of me as a 'mysterious hero,' or something like that. But honestly, she's a little too... enthusiastic about it."
Blake looked at him, a small smirk forming on her face. "So Penny has a crush on your masked identity, huh? Not the real you, but the hero version?"
"Exactly," Oscar said with a shrug. "I don't think she really knows it's me, or at least, she doesn't want to believe it. She's pretty adamant about keeping the 'mystery' intact, but I know she suspects something."
Blake raised an eyebrow, her tone playful. "So you're playing hero in a mask while trying to keep your civilian life... uncomplicated?"
Oscar nodded. "I mean, it's easier to keep things separate that way. The last thing I need is someone else finding out I'm, well, me, especially if they're not part of this mess I've got going on."
Blake hummed, considering his words. "I get that. But you know, it's only a matter of time before someone catches on."
Oscar gave her a nervous smile. "Yeah, I know. Honestly, I'm just waiting for that day to come."
Blake shook her head, smiling faintly. "Well, you're certainly not making it easy for yourself, Oscar. But I'll admit, it's kind of... cute, in a weird way."
Oscar blinked at her, not sure how to respond. "Cute? I'm over here trying to juggle my multiple identities, and you think it's cute?"
Blake chuckled softly. "Hey, it's a little complicated, but it's entertaining to watch. Besides, if you weren't so oblivious sometimes, things wouldn't be nearly as interesting."
Oscar rolled his eyes, though there was a faint smile tugging at his lips. "You really like making fun of me, don't you?"
Blake grinned, her expression softening. "Only a little. It's just hard not to when you're so... charmingly clueless about everything."
Oscar laughed nervously, glancing ahead as they neared the dorm. "Well, I guess I'll have to work on being less... clueless, huh?"
Blake nodded. "Yeah. You've got a lot to figure out, but I believe in you."
Oscar smiled back at her, feeling a sense of reassurance in her words. "Thanks, Blake. I really appreciate it."
As they reached the door to their dorm room, Blake gave him one last look before walking in ahead of him. "Just don't take too long, okay? You're not the only one caught in this mess."
Oscar followed her inside, the weight of the conversation still on his mind, but with a little more clarity. He wasn't sure how things would play out with everyone, but at least he wasn't alone in this. With Blake and the others by his side, he felt like he could handle whatever was coming next.
