Chapter 524: 523: Five Deadly Abominations
"How can I reach the top of the Eternal Waterfall?"
The moment Corey asked this question, Ryan's eyes widened in disbelief and shock, and he could not help but exclaim.
"The top of the Eternal Waterfall?!"
"You want to get to the top of the Eternal Waterfall?!"
Corey expected such a reaction from Ryan because it was the normal reaction one would have. Although Ryan knew that he was not a normal Tier 2, he had no idea just how abnormal he was as a Tier 2.
In Ryan's eyes, mind, and heart, Corey was at best a Tier 2 who could battle Tier 3s or above-average Tier 3s. There was no way Ryan would ever come up with the idea that Corey, a Tier 2 of the Underworld, would be able to battle Tier 4s.
In his mind, only those who belonged to top-tier forces like the Supreme Sword Sect could produce geniuses whereas a Tier 2 would be able to battle and maybe defeat a Tier 4.
Although the Underworld was a nurturing ground that was created to produce talented individuals, it was not meant to create demonic talented or heaven-defying talented individuals.
In fact, the existence of Underworld residents like Pamela was one of the major discussions that was usually held by the upper echelons of the Underworld.
Ryan knew of Pamela due to his elders who accompanied him, and she was one of the individuals his elders had warned him of.
'He's just a Tier 2. What business does he have at the Eternal Waterfall? It's a place that even I have to be wary of.'
Ryan thought with a baffled expression and a pondering light in his eyes. Meanwhile, Corey nodded his head with a calm and indifferent expression.
Ryan stared at him with a mixture of emotions in his eyes for a few seconds, and then he sighed.
"From what I heard, if you want to reach the top of the Eternal Waterfall, you'll have to fly to the top."
Corey furrowed his brows deeply. "Fly?"
Ryan nodded with a solemn expression, and then he glanced at the Eternal Waterfall.
"I know what must be on your mind, how is one expected to reach the top of the Eternal Waterfall by flying when we cannot even stay in the sky for more than thirty seconds?"
Ryan shifted his gaze towards Corey, but Corey gave no reply. However, his expression showed his curiosity and bafflement at Ryan's words.
Ryan knew this, and he continued.
"Well, nobody is meant to reach the top of the Eternal Waterfall… I mean, assuming what is at the top of the Eternal is actually a fragment of the combined power of two Old Ones, how could it be so easy to acquire?"
Ryan's lips curled up for a moment, and then he shook his head as he turned towards Corey.
"Although I don't know why you want to reach the top of the Eternal Waterfall, what I know is that you're either extremely brave for even having such thoughts or you're either extremely foolish."
Corey's lips curled up slightly when he heard Ryan's words. Even he knew that trying to reach the top of the Eternal Waterfall where a Power was most likely residing or would trigger whatever Power was residing in the Shattered Sea was extremely foolish of him.
Although he survived a battle against the Capra King and Aethara, his loss against Pamela and the sight and mere presence of Zal'Zerael made him realize just how lucky he had been to survive his battle against the Capra King and Aethara.
'If not for the Infinity Crystal, there's no way I'll risk my life fighting against beings that can kill me if they take me seriously… Advancing as a Paragon is truly difficult.'
Corey released an internal sigh as he thought about how absurdly difficult it was to advance to higher tiers as a Paragon… or Demi-Paragon.
Meanwhile, Ryan shook his head when he saw Corey smile, and he could not help but wonder if Corey was secretly a crazy fellow.
"I don't know what's going on in that mind of yours, but since you also possess a similar power to mine, I'll tell you about the dangers of the centre of the Shattered Sea."
Ryan shifted his gaze toward the Eternal Waterfall and the image of a colossal waterfall that was easily more than three hundred meters in size reflected in his pupils.
Ryan kept on staring at the waterfall almost as if in a daze, but a few seconds later, his lips parted open and he spoke.
"You might not be able to see it from here, but the Eternal Waterfall splits at the base, and each stream flows into both the Water of Purity and Water of Calamity."
Corey gazed at the Eternal Waterfall, and his expression slowly became solemn.
"If you're going to the centre of the Shattered Sea, there are some things you have to be cautious of, and one of them is the clashing waves of the Water of Purity and Water of Calamity."
"There is always a constant collision of the two opposing waters, and this generates devastating waves of raw energy. The waves damage not only the body, but they also disrupt the mind, making it difficult for one to focus or use their abilities."
"Whenever the waterfall strikes the sea, it creates deadly shockwaves that can even hurt Tier 4s."
"Apart from that, there are certain abominations of the Water of Calamity you have to be wary of when you reach the centre of the Shattered Sea. Unlike the Goliathspawns of the Water of Purity which would not stop you if you try to reach the top of the Eternal Waterfall, the abominations of the Water of Calamity would stop you."
"They are the Skybound Sirens, the Frost Warden, the Maw, the Tentacled Scourge, and the Abyssal Leviathan."
"These five abominations are said to be the most dangerous entities of the Water of Calamity, and they will always attack those that try to reach the top of the Eternal Waterfall."
