Chapter 525 524: Worse; Five Principalities And A Power
'Hmm… So not only do I have to watch out for the emergence of an unknown Power, but I also have to watch out for five abominations which are most likely Principalities, or if I'm lucky, they'll all be Titans… or if I'm very unlucky, they'll all be Powers.'
Corey gave himself a mocking laugh, as he inwardly shook his head.
'If all of them are Powers, then I might as well just run away from here since that would make the Shattered Sea more dangerous than The Morphing Expanse and The Raging Sky.'
'Hopefully, I'm not jinxing it.'
Corey released a soft sigh, and just as he did, Ryan continued speaking.
"Most that don't know believe that if they can fly high enough, the abominations of the Water of Calamity would not be able to attack them anymore, but that's extremely wrong."
"The most annoying abomination when trying to reach the top of the Eternal Waterfall are the Skybound Sirens. They are winged creatures with beautiful forms and faces, however, that's just a facade they put up. Their true appearances are scary and can even induce nightmares."
Ryan paused, and Corey saw him shiver for a moment with a disgusted and frightened expression.
"They inhabit the skies around the waterfall and sing songs to those that dare to reach the top of the top of the waterfall. Their songs cause hallucinations and heightened emotions, and sometimes, if one gets influenced by it, they might even leap willingly into the Shattered Sea."
Ryan shook his head as he recalled some unfortunate souls who fell prey to the Skybound Sirens and plunged into the Water of Calamity with a smile on their faces.
"The Skybound Sirens are not extremely strong, but their powers are really annoying and strong. Most of them are Tier 4s and I have not seen a Tier 5 Skybound Siren before… But even though most of them are Tier 4s, their powers can affect unsuspecting or unprepared Tier 5s."
Corey placed his hands on his mouth with a calculating glint in his eyes as he stared at the Eternal Waterfall.
"The Frost Warden is an abomination that is also very annoying to deal with."
Ryan furrowed his brows deeply as he spoke.
"The Frost Warden is a colossal humanoid entity with a single eye on its stomach, a faceless head, mouths on its four hands, and a deep blue fur on its colossal body. It wields a massive halberd of frozen energy and can summon blizzards to obscure its movements. Any being with a low constitution would be frozen solid by staying close to it."
"The next abomination that is actually the most annoying to deal with is The Maw."
"The Maw is usually referred to as the shadow of the shattered sea, and it dwells at the centre of the sea. It's a formless creature with no true shape and a very annoying ability. It can absorb mana from the surroundings and mana-based attacks, rendering most attacks used with mana useless."
"It also speaks in the voices of those it devours and mocks its prey with the words of their fallen comrade… According to what I know, a lot of people fear the Maw because of this ability."
Corey raised his brows when he heard this. This was the first time he had heard of a creature that could imitate the voices of people.
'It should not be a problem for me since I should be able to notice the difference through my Ears of Omniscience.'
"After the Maw, the next abomination is the Tentacled Scourge."
"It's a massive abomination with countless tentacles and eyes, and it resides in the depths of the Water of Calamity."
Corey raised his brows, and he could not help but cut Ryan off.
"Was it the Tentacled Scourge that attacked me?"
Ryan shook his head. "Yes and no."
"What?" Corey tilted his head with a confused expression, and Ryan rubbed the side of his head.
"Well, it was a Tentacled Scourge that attacked you, but it also wasn't a genuine Tentacled Scourge."
"There are some abominations that have been pulled or captured by the Goliathspawns to the Water of Purity, and the Water of Purity would attempt to 'purify' the abominations… That's why the Tentacled Scourge that attacked you was defeated so easily by that Goliathspawn."
"It's also the same for the Goliathspawns. Some Goliathspawns have also been pulled or captured by the abominations to the Water of Calamity."
Corey nodded, but a second later, he froze and snapped his head toward Ryan.
"Wait… There's more than one Tentacled Scourge?"
Ryan was at first taken aback by Corey's reaction, but a second later, he shook his head and chuckled.
"Not really… Or well… Yes?"
Corey's lips twitched when he saw Ryan's baffled and indecisive expression. Just as he was about to speak, Ryan continued.
"Well, from what I know, there's only one Tentacled Scourge that's a Principality… The one that attacked you was just a Titan."
"..."
Corey blinked more than three times, and with a deep inhale, he looked away.
'So, I should factor in the possibility of there being more than one Tentacled Scourge?... What of the others?... Would there also be more?'
Corey inhaled and exhaled deeply, and then he listened to Ryan who continued speaking with a smile.
"As I was saying, the Tentacled Scourge is a massive abomination with countless tentacles and eyes. Each tentacle is tipped with jagged, obsidian-like barbs, and they move with terrifying speed and precision."
"The eyes can make one see hallucinations of their worst fears, and if one is not prepared against this ability, they would meet their death almost instantly… Also, the Tentacled Scourge has a very fast regeneration rate."
'Of course, the tentacles can regenerate.' Corey sighed inwardly.
"The last abomination is the Abyssal Leviathan, and it's said to be the most dangerous abomination out of the five abominations"
Ryan paused for a few seconds, and then he continued with a solemn voice.
"The Abyssal Leviathan is a monstrous serpent that dwells in the deepest parts of the Water of Calamity. Its body is covered in scales that ooze black acid, and its eyes are crimson red. The Abyssal Leviathan can summon tidal waves of the Water of Calamity, and it also possesses an extremely deadly poison that can even kill Tier 6s if they are not careful."
Corey raised his brows the instant he heard this, and his eyes flashed with a glint that Ryan almost noticed.
"The black acid is poison and it's also extremely corrosive… The poison is the reason why most people fear the Abyssal Leviathan. In fact, some believe that a major part of the reason why the Water of Calamity is so deadly is because of the presence of the Abyssal Leviathan."
Ryan turned, and then he looked at Corey who looked back at him with his pure white eyes.
"Now, with all that I've said… Do you, a Tier 2, still want to reach the top of the Eternal Waterfall?"
"By the way, the five abominations are Principalities."
'I mean, you still haven't mentioned the Power that I'm sure is present in the Shattered Sea… Five Principalities and a Power… And I thought things could not get any worse.'
Corey released a deep sigh.
