The Backbender (Avatar: The Last Airbender)

The night arrived, and the three were going to sleep. Or tried to go to sleep, but someone stopped that from happening as they arrived.

"So this is where they are?" Zuko looked at the ground below as he watched the team go into an earth camp hat Kanuk made with his bending. 

Besides Zuko, June had her black hair falling over one of her eyes as she watched Kanuk. She blushed as she saw his looks. Goth attracts emo-looking guys, I guess.

"Wow. How handsome. You did not tell me~" Zuko groaned as he turned to June. She smirked as Kanuk entered his camp with Katara and Fei. Zuko looked at June in annoyance.

"We are not here for that. Get yourself under control." Zuko said with a sneer as he looked at the camp. June just smiled as they vanished from the place.

Kanuk inside the camp smirked as he opened his eyes. He entered the spirit world. He did not want to wake Katara and Fei. Kanuk walked into the forest and smiled.

"So this was your great plan? Come and try to assassinate me while sleeping?" Kanuk's voice reached the ears of June and Zuko. They froze as Kanuk appeared from thin air in front of them.

Kanuk looked at Zuko with a cold face. He did not have mercy on the ones who kept trying to harm him and his girls. 

Kanuk's eyes flashed a cold glint as he stared at Zuko. He debated killing him right there and now, but he hesitated to do so.

If he kills Zuko...

Won't he kill an innocent person? Zuko might be a threat, but he wouldn't go as far as to kill him for his own goal. He is not like his father or sister. He is not a cruel person.

"I came to get my honour back! Not to assassinate you. I demand an Agni Kai right now!" Zuko stood up with fearlessness in his eyes. June jumped back along with Nyla.

Kanuk smiled as he looked at Zuko. He turned around, and with a wave of his hand, the ground started moving. Trees were pushed out, and the ground became flat and smooth.

An arena the size of a small football stadium was made in the forest. Zuko stared wide-eyed at the show of Earth Bending that Kanuk had shown.

"I can use the four elements, and you still dared to ask for an Agni Kai with me? Are you crazy?" Kanuk asked with genuine concern as he turned to look at Zuko.

Zuko gritted his teeth in annoyance as he heard Kanuk's mocking tone. He got into a stance, and Kanuk did the same. 

"To make this fair, I won't move from my position. I will only use Fire Bending." Kanuk began as he stood in the same place, his feet surrounded by earth to stop him from moving.

"And don't say it's not fair. Since I will also be blind." Zuko watched as Kanuk closed his eyes. Kanuk turned his senses off completely, only his hearing to help him.

"You dare humiliate me like this?!" Zuko screamed in rage as he looked at Kanuk. His anger caused his body to get hotter. He jumped up and sent a flame slash towards Kanuk.

Boom!

A wave of flames came out of Kanuk's nose, smashing the ground apart and sending Zuko flying from the shockwave.

"Come on, Prince Zuko. Is that all you can do?" Zuko looked up as Kanuk's teasing voice reached his ears. He looked at the scorched and melted earth, his eyes confused.

'How did he become so strong in such a short time? It's impossible...' Zuko stood up and sneered as he rushed at Kanuk at full speed.

Smack!

Bang!

Splatter!

Kanuk stood there, taking hit after hit as he redirected Zuko's punches and kicks back to himself. Zuko coughed up blood as his fist landed square on his own face.

Swoosh!

Zuko sent a wave of flames, his eyes burning in anger and increasing the fuel of his fire. Kanuk smirked as he held his palm out. Kanuk condensed the flames into a small ball of fire.

"Kid. Are you trying to light my birthday candle?" Zuko stared with wide eyes as his flames did nothing. He stepped back and watched as Kanuk crushed the fire in his hand.

"Zuko. You want to see real Fire Bending?" Kanuk asked with a smirk. He looked up at the sky and breathed a massive amount of air. Kanuk's lungs expanded to the limit.

Zuko watched as Kanuk's chest expanded like a balloon. The air started getting hotter and hotter. The air began to distort from the heat. Even Zuo felt like he was standing in a furnace.

Kanuk looked up at the sky and let out a roar as a flame beam hundreds of meters and dozens of meters wide shot up like a dragon soaring through the sky.

Zuko watched as the ground melted under Kanuk's feet. The shockwave sent him flying, injuring him more than his redirected attacks did. He was wide-eyed as he watched.

Boom!

The flame died as Kanuk finished. Kanuk looked down with smoke coming from his mouth and smirked as he stepped forward. He leaned down and looked Zuko in the face.

"Don't you dare even think of attacking me and my loved ones. Until you can make a flame as big as this one. Or I will kill you where you stand. Weakling." Kanuk turned around and left.

Once he was gone, June came out with a blush on her face, her eyes tracking the back of Kanuk. She felt her heartbeat speeding up.

Turning around, Kanuk shot June a wink as he turned and continued walking. Zukos stood up shakily, and he watched as Kanuk walked away.

"This power... Is he stronger than father?" Zuko muttered with conflicted emotions in his eyes as he turned to look at the arena. Where Kanuk stood was a pillar and a hole 5 meters deep filled with lava.

Kanuk's base flames are 2,300 Celsius. But when it's mixed with oxygen, like just now. It reaches a temperature of 3,200 Celsius. 

That kind of heat is almost as hot as the Sun's surface. Something that no Fire Bender can reach except for Azula coming close with her blue flames.

Going back to his camp. Kanuk entered with a smile and noticed that they were still asleep. He isolated the sound of the fight. To not wake the two up.

"Finally, some peace and quiet," Kanuk muttered as he fell asleep with a smile. Zuko and June left the place. June looked back at the camp with a smirk.

"Goodbye, handsome. For now~,"
