Chapter 53: CH: 53 Rebirth
[Chapter: 53 Rebirth]
"Missile," Su Yueming looked at the warhead approaching at rapid speed, and a flash of panic appeared in her eyes.
"It turned out to be a missile," William remarked, then threw Su Yueming aside. "Woman, don't worry. This seat is here. Get out of the way."
Su Yueming, who was thrown out, suddenly opened her eyes wide, looking around, watching as the warhead struck William's body.
Boom!
Flames radiated, and a strong shock wave swept through the surroundings. Various equipment and unprepared people were directly blown apart, turned into minced meat.
Harold and Joyce stood up from the ground, having just fallen over. Su Yueming rolled on the ground but, since she was thrown onto a couch far from the impact zone, she only felt dizzy and didn't suffer any serious injuries.
Looking at the still-burning flames and thick smoke in front of him, Joyce shouted, "Harl, this is KSI! You actually let someone launch a missile!"
"Joy, don't you know he is a huge threat to us? Otherwise, we couldn't kill him. Do you think we haven't tried? But as long as we can kill him, our plan will be unimpeded," Harold said gloomily.
"Where is Su? Did you want to kill her too?" Joyce yelled.
Harold looked at Su Yueming, who had stood up. "Look, isn't she okay?"
"If something had happened to her, then all of our cooperation would have ended," Joyce said loudly and walked toward Su Yueming. "Su, are you okay?"
"I'm okay. Your people are really full of idiots. If he hadn't thrown me out, I would have become minced meat by now," Su Yueming said lightly.
"Su, don't be angry. Calm down, okay? Please," Joyce pleaded practically begging.
Su Yueming looked at the smoke and flames in front of her. "Is he dead?"
Everyone else looked at the scene in shock. "In this case, he must be dead."
"For that kind of guy, he was a big criminal and deserved the punishment. He even killed Wembley and used our KSI for his own purposes, so good riddance," Joyce said, clenching his fist.
"Is that so?" Su Yueming's eyes flashed with a hint of complexity. "But at the moment of life and death, he threw me out."
"Look at the pit," a KSI employee pointed at the large pit in front as the flames and smoke slowly dissipated. A big black pit appeared before their eyes, clearly caused by the missile's impact.
"Go and see," Harold turned to an agent next to him.
"Yes," the agent replied and walked slowly toward the pit.
The agent approached the pit, looked toward its bottom, and then said, "He is at the bottom of the pit, and there is a big hole in his chest. He is dead."
"Hahaha," Harold laughed proudly and walked toward the pit, with everyone else following, their curiosity piqued.
Seeing William lying in the pit, everyone's mouths opened. The sight was gruesome, as he had a round hole in his chest from the missile. His body was grilled and burned, with missing limbs.
"He… is… dead," Su Yueming mumbled, turning her head.
"Look at the ribs on his chest. Why do they have a silvery-white luster? The bones aren't the same color as a human's," a KSI employee wondered aloud.
Joyce's face changed. "This is... He really merged successfully? Quickly, get his body out of there. It must be studied. We need to study his body."
Harold signaled an agent, who jumped into the pit with a gun and approached William.
The agent squatted down, his eyes widening as he thought he saw the faintest movement. Rubbing his eyes, he shook his head.
"What are you doing? Get him up already," Harold called.
"Yes," the agent replied, shaking his head again. He must have been mistaken—after being hit by a missile, how could William still be alive?
The agent reached for William's body, ready to lift him, but his eyes widened as he suddenly saw a flash of movement.
The agent felt a sharp pain in his neck, a massive force crushing it.
"It really hurts to be hit by a missile," William muttered, his eyes opening as he stood slowly, his hand clamped around the agent's neck.
"The corpse is moving!" a KSI employee yelled in shock. Some collapsed onto the ground, while most fled, watching from a distance.
"Impossible! This is impossible! Why didn't he die?" Harold exclaimed.
But Joyce, now excited, thought, If we can research him, we could uncover all his secrets.
Su Yueming sighed softly, letting out a breath, seemingly relieved. She didn't want this bastard to die like this, though she couldn't explain why. William surviving a missile strike shocked her deeply.
William twisted the agent's neck, killing him instantly, and tossed the body aside. "Why are you all so surprised? Did you really think I'd die so easily?"
William jumped to the top of the pit. Harold, Joyce, and the others quickly retreated several meters, but Su Yueming remained where she was, watching coldly.
William glanced at the hole in his chest. "Seriously, I didn't expect my defense to be this good."
"What a joke!" Harold yelled.
William smirked, his expression devilish. "Now it's my turn to play since you've had your fun."
"What are you going to do?"
"Rest assured, your time hasn't come yet. You'll remain alive for the time being," William said with a laugh and then opened his hands.
Su Yueming's pupils contracted slightly as she saw light-red particles appearing in the hole in William's chest. The particles pulsed rhythmically, almost as if alive.
"What is this?" Joyce adjusted his glasses.
"How is this possible?" Harold stammered, while the agents and KSI employees stood frozen in disbelief.
The particles gradually filled and repaired the hole in William's chest, restoring him to his previous state.
"My skin feels like it has an extra layer of defense," William remarked, observing the rippling, water-like quality of his skin. It appeared strong enough to repel bullets yet soft to the touch.
